Chapter 19
Estelle’s car entered the apartment complex. Allen had fallen asleep in the car.
Camille picked her soti out of the car gently. She asked Estelle in the elevator, “This rascal didn’t give you any trouble, did
he
“None” Estelle smiled. “Your son is very well–behaved. If you think he’s too much trouble, you can give him to me.”
“No way. Go make your own if you want one.” Camille hugged her son tightly. Her son was evet ything to her. She wouldn’t allow anyone to take him from her.
She took Allen’s clothes off gently and put him on the big bed. She then went outside to eat with Estelle.
“Huh. Camille. You look like you’re about to get a promotion. Estelle looked strangely at Camille.
“A promotion?” Camille was surprised. “How do you know?”
Estelle ate another mouthful of food. Her eyes darted around. The head of the HR department always had her meals with me at the staff’s canteen. We have a rather good relationship. She told me today at noon that the CEO seems to want to give you a promotion. Word is that the order was already given. All that’s left is to officially notify you.”
“Really?” Camille was excited.
She put down her utensils, and her eyes brightened. “Estelle, what kind of position do you think it will be? I don’t need a position of power. I just hope the pay is enough to raise Allen.”
“I don’t know about that yet.” Estelle shook her head.
She rested for a full six days.
The next Wednesday, Camille was summoned by Ms. Jones.
She got on the bus early in the morning. It had been a few days since she smelled the fresh air surrounding Leicester Hotel. She kind of missed it
“Ms. Jones, what do you need me for?” She walked into the office
Heather looked at Camille. One couldn’t tell anything wrong with her face if they didn’t look too closely. She asked, “How was your rest? Are you well enough to come to work again?”
“I’ve recovered fully. I can come to work again. Thank you, Ms. Jones
Heather smiled and stood up. She said, “It’s the Valentine’s Day ball in two days. Our staff isn’t required inside, but a cocktail party and other events will be held outdoors. Our staff needs to help set up the place. Each department has arranged for someone to help”
“Alright, I can help. Camille nodded. She felt uncomfortable that Ms. Jones was consulting her before delegating work to her.
After changing into her uniform, She followed Jenna, Kim, and two other girls responsible for the dining experience upstairs to the venue.
One couldn’t see the edges of the venue under the blazing sun. The clearing behind it was an endless sea of green. It looked like they’d have to set up everything required for the cocktail party other than the sky and grass field
Just as they w were at a loss for what to start working on, a group of people came toward them with many items. They were all from the housekeeping department. The one leading the group was Rachelle George.

Rachelle’s heels sunk Into the ground of the grass field as she walked on it. That made it tough for her to walk.
She looked at Camille with an expression that was neither unwelcorning nor hospitable. She then looked at Kim. “Kim will be the temporary leader of the restaurant. She will be responsible for distributing the workload for the next two days
Rachelle’s eyes fell on Camille’s face before she left.
Kim started distributing the work methodically.
People were well aware of the risk of getting heat stroke in this weather. They would take a break under a big tree at the edge of the grass field every now and then and drink some iced plum juice.
As soon as Jenna sat down, Kim stood up and left. Even a blind person could sense that Kim was distancing herself on
purpose.
“What happened to her? Why is she behaving so strangely recently?” Jenna pursed her lips.
Camille shook her head. “No idea.”
When night fell, Jenna was picked up by her boyfriend on a flashy motorcycle. Kim left too. Camille had to wait for the bus Luckily, she managed to catch the last one.
She was exhausted and fell asleep immediately after showering.
The next day, she changed into her uniform and continued to set up the venue with Jenna and Kim. Setting up a place for over a thousand people required a lot of manpower. Fortunately, they had enough people working to do it.
“Make sure the wine glasses are arranged properly. Jenna, come over here!” Kim shouted.
Jenna glanced at Kim, who was giving orders. She puckered her lips. “So annoying. Her head is all big now that she’s the leader.
Jenna arranged the glasses reluctantly. She really wasn’t cut out for such delicate work. It would have been much better for Camille to do things like this.
“Follow me,” Kim said to Camille after turning around.
“Okay” Camille followed.
The two walked toward the restaurant’s warehouse.
There was a large green container. Kim pulled it out with a hook She turned around to Camille. “Give me a hand.”
“Okay” Camille walked up to her. With one person
e person on each side, they started to move the container outside.
“Do we need to
move this over there?” Camille pointed toward the venue.
Kim nodded and asked Camille, “You’re mad at me these past few days, aren’t you?”
“No, I’m just confused. I didn’t know if I had done something that offended you,” Camille said to Kim. Camille didn’t like it when others targeted her, nor did she want to target others.
Kim lowered her head and laughed. She raised her head and looked at Camille. “Your relationship with the CEO. Is it true?”
Camille shook her head. She knew that many people had misunderstood her. It turned out Kim was one of them too.
“Really?” Kim looked at Camille with a strange look in her eyes.
Camille shook her head violently. “No.”

Rachelle walked toward theip from the fountain. She saw the two carrying a large container and asked loudly, “Why arent the men doing this?”
Kim giggled. The men wouldn’t listen to me even if I asked them to, Ms. George.”
Rachelle glanced at Camille, who had her head lowered. Something flashed across her eyes. She raised her head and grabbed Kim’s arm. “Come over here for a second.”
Crash!
The container that the two were carrying smashed onto the ground.
When she was grabbed by Rachelle, Kim’s grip loosened. All the weight shifted toward Camille. The container landed right on the dorsum of her fooL
“Ah, Camille?”
Kim squatted down beside Cammile. She was very scared.
Camille was squatting on the floor. Her face was pale with pain.
“Goodness, you’ve hurt your foot, haven’t you?” Kim exclaimed.
to be down.
“How careless of you. What shall we do? It will be Valentine’s Day tomorrow. I don’t think we can afford anyone It would be best for you to tough it out. You’re not that delicate, are you? Surely being hit by a container won’t kill you!” Rachelle snorted and left.
The water from the fountain sprayed upward and landed on Camille, wetting her hair and clothes. Her toes were in so much pain that they had turned numb.
Camille wanted to hurl insults at her.
When Camille returned, Jenna saw her limping. She gasped as she ran up to her. “What happened to you, Camille? Where are you hurt?
“It’s no big deal.” Camille struggled to reassure Jenna. Drops of sweat broke out on her forehead as she untered the words. Kim stood at her side with her head hung low.
“Are you sure?” Jenna stared at Kim fiercely. She narrowed her eyes and pointed at Kim’s nose, “Was it you? Tell me, was it you? You have been showing animosity toward Camille. Did you injure her in a matter of minutes?”
“L… I didn’t!” Kim lowered her head guiltily.
Camille took a deep breath. Just as she was about to ask them to drop the matter, she saw Luke’s tall stature appear at the
Venue.
Adam Tate walked toward them and asked, “What happened?”
“It’s all because of her. Jenna pointed at Kim.
“I didn’t…”
Just as Kim was about to explain herself, Camille interrupted her “Nothing. Nothing happened. Mr. Tate, there’s no need for
concern.
Adam remained suspicious. When he left the venue, he asked Luke, “Luke, do you feel that Camille looked really pale? She didn’t look like her usual self. She looked very unhealthy.”
Luke’s expression grew cold immediately. He said in a low voice. Your skill of observing women has always been better that

your work capabilities. Her face isn’t the only part that’s pale.”
“Which other part of her is very pale? You know a lot about her, don’t you?” Adam’s tone took a dirty turn.
