Chapter 2
It was pouring the night before. The air was humid but also refreshing.
Camille got off the bus and stood before Leicester Hotel’s front door. She was feeling slightly weird.
This city had memories she did not wish to recall. Four years ago, she got released from jail and found that her first boyfriend, Trevor White, was engaged to someone else. Then, she lost her father to an accident and was unexpectedly. pregnant with Allen.
Life sure is unpredictable.
She revised her knowledge of the hotel while walking in
Suddenly, it felt like everything she hardworkingly studied overseas about hotel management was wiped out from her brain.
“Ah!”
Camille let out a surprised scream and jumped. A puddle of dirty water had gotten onto her light–colored jeans.
Pulling her hair aside, she looked up and saw a glimpse of the car responsible for her messy state. It was a black Rolls-Royce that had already arrogantly driven into the Leicester Hotel.
Camille was speechless.
It was so infuriating.
In the human resource department corridor, apart from Camille, who was standing at the corner cleaning her pants, everyone was dressed in mini skirts and revealing tops.
When someone from the human resource department walked past Camille, she glanced at Camille’s dirty pants in distaste. “Why are you soaked in dirty water?”
Camille could only admit that she was unlucky.
“Hurry, the CEO is coming!” After a slight commotion, everyone backed away, and Camille was squeezed into the corner. She could only see two pairs of shiny leather shoes passing by, and the atmosphere became suffocating.
Luke was as cold as ever. On the other hand, Adam Tate, following behind, took every chance he could to check out the girls. He scanned around, and he nodded satisfactorily after looking at the beautiful ladies.
People from the outside of the interview room could not see what was going on inside. Camille nervously watched as people went in and came out with obviously disappointed looks after only two minutes.

The staff looked at her contemptuously. She was not taking Carmille seriously. Judging by Camille’s outfit, she was sure Camille would get kicked out the moment she entered.
Camille felt like her heart was stuck in her throat. She opened the door.
After entering, she followed the instructions given to her and sat down.

She secretly judged the grimylooking man sitting in the middle
Luke was also looking at her.
Camille did not dare lower her head again, even though she wanted to. Luke’s gaze felt like he was staring into her soul. Naturally, she felt like avoiding his gaze.
The man frowned. Though he was stern and unapproachable, he was extremely handsome. Just him looking at her made Camille feel weird.
“Ahem!” Sitting at the side of Luke, Adam let out a cough. He thought to himself, “What is up with Luke? Although this girl is not as hot as the other ladies, and her pants are dirty, he should keep staring at her like that. Time is precious!”
Adam thought I he understood what Luke meant. He pointed to the door and said, “Lovely lady, you may leave.”
Camille was confused.
Just as she was about to speak, the deep and powerful voice interrupted her.
“You studied hotel management in Glondom and were in the industry for three years, Luke asked formally.
Camille looked at the man before her. He was flipping through her resume. Camille answered softly, “Yes.
The interviewers all waited for Luke’s next move. Adam was also watching him. Could it be that Luke honestly had no care for his employees‘ looks and only focused on their skills? That can’t be it! Luke’s eyes were stuck on Camille’s resurue, his eyes hard to read.
Seeing how Luke was not responding, Camille thought she was too soft. Hence, she mustered up the courage and repeated herself. “Yes!”
Her voice was so loud this time Adam started laughing while spinning his pen. Camille felt like she wanted to dig a hole and/ jump in.

put down her resume and asked, “Your name is Camille Shelton. Are you a local here?”
Camille nodded and answered, “Yes!”
Adam and the other interviewers were confused. What was Mr. Walter thinking? Why is he spending so much time on such an ordinary girl?
The next moment, Luke clenched Camille’s resume and stood up. He strictly instructed. “I’ll hand over the professional questions to you. However, due to the hotel’s image, ladies with such appearance must start working from the lowest position. It’s up to them if they refuse to accept
that.”
Ignoring everyone’s lost expressions, Luke strode away. When he was passing by Camille, intentional or not, he was so near her that his shoulder brushed past her body.
Camille had no chance to react before the interviewer asked her “Ms. Shelton, what are the two most important traits of hotel management?”
Camille frowned as she recalled Luke’s insult. She answered, “Be sincere and smile.”
“Alright, you’re hired. The human resource department will take over and guide you. If you are not satisfied with the arrangement, you are also welcome to leave.” The interviewer was still unsure of his boss’s ambiguous instructions and decided to pass Camille
There were more than twenty applicants. After the CEO’s selection, only one was selected for the secretary department, two for the management department, and Camille. She was not assigned to any department yet.

Camille stood waiting outside for someone from the human resource department to assign her to her job.

Soon, a woman in her mid–thirties walked out of the human resource department. She smiled at Camille. You must be Camille. I’m the head of the HR department. I’ve taken a look at your resume. I see that you studied management. However, you heard it yourself. The CEO clearly instructed you to start training from the lowest position. Come with me.”
“Yes” Camille nodded her head.
However, what did they mean by the lowest position?
Once they entered the lift, the head of the HR department glanced at Camille’s pants. “Were you not aware that you were coming for an interview today? Please be careful in the future. Mr. Walter is very strict when it comes to his employees‘ image. If you work hard and do well, you will slowly climb to a level worthy of your qualifications. Mr. Walter cherishes skilled talents.”
Was that counted as an encouragement?
The head of the HR department handed her over to her future supervisor.
After asking around, Camille realized her position really was the lowest kind.
At night, Jordan was playing with Allen after dinner. He left reluctantly after a while and went back to his apartment to sleep. Allen was sitting on the sofa playing a game. Estelle was seated on his left, and Camille was on his right.
Estelle was frowning incomprehensibly. “With your ability and qualifications, it’s ridiculous for you to be assigned to that position. This is so frustrating. If I had known it would be like that, I would have gone over to put in some good words for you. Well, now we are a golf field’s distance away!”
“It’s all the pants and the rain’s fault,” said Camille.
“What do your pants and the rain have to do with anything?” Estelle asked while eating chips.
“My pants were dirty when I went for the interview. It was soaked with dirty water. The CEO also said….”
“The CEO?” Estelle was suddenly excited. “You have to tell me! What did the CEO say to you? Nice one! The CEO spoke to you?”
Estelle was grabbing Camille’s shoulders while she asked. In one shot, Camille raised her head and said, “Your CEO said that judging from my appearance I needed to start from the lowest position!”
“So… there I was.”
Estelle’s mouth widened. She spat out her potato chips and laughed on the sofa while hugging Allen. “No way! Our CEO was checking on you! ! That’s impossible! I! You were sent to the lowest position because of this?!”
