Chapter 26
As Camille left and stepped outside, carrying a silver tray. The outdoor air was refreshing. It wasn’t until tiny rain droplets fell on the ground that she realized it had started to rain.
Leaving the grand banquet hall and walking toward the east, Camille saw a winding path paved with pebbles, with soft lawns on both sides. After crossing a small wooden bridge, there was a shallow, crystal–clear stream.
Although Camille didn’t know why his face suddenly became cold and he didn’t want her to follow, it felt like an excellent opportunity to take a break.
She sat down on the wooden bridge.
Breathing the refreshing air after the drizzle, Camille leaned her head against a gigantic stone, wanting to rest for a while.
Inside the banquet hall.
Despite Trevor’s poor social skills, many people knew his identity and approached him with flattery. Finally, feeling bored, he sipped his red wine and turned around to leave.
Sarah, who was talking to someone, excused herself when she saw Trevor and went up to chase after him.
“Wait, Trevor…” Sarah stepped forward a few steps to catch up.
Trevor turned around and asked, “What’s the matter?”
“What could it be?” Sarah’s fair and tender face stiffened. “Trevor, I know you don’t like these social events, but…for your father’s sake, don’t you have to put on a show?”
“That man is not my father. He’s Luke’s father,” Trevor said impatiently.
Trevor ignored Sarah and walked out immediately.
Sarah stood still, took a deep breath, and frowned. Did she say something wrong again? He shouldn’t have just turned and walked away like that. Did he forget that she was his fiancée?
“Trevor…” Sarah decided to chase after him.
In this resort hotel, it seemed that paths or small bridges were built to connect almost all the buildings in the hotel.
Trevor lit a cigarette while walking.
“Don’t smoke, Trevor. You have already caught a cold.” Sarah caught up to him and showed concern.
“Why do you care?” Trevor raised his eyebrows and turned away with an irritated look.
Sarah remained motionless in the original position while staring intently at him. Her legs were trembling, and she almost fell. What was wrong with him today? He was in such a good mood when he came back. Why did he suddenly act like this?
The tense atmosphere was interrupted by a line of waitresses walking back and forth carrying trays of dishes.
Trevor remained silent, his eyes fixed on the dishes.
He remembered the first time he ate the food cooked by Camille was at the end of a winter break.
His Anglesaian language was terrible, and within a week of starting school, Trevor had a new girlfriend. She was gentle, very soft–spoken, and a top Anglesaian language student in the cohort

Trevor was incredibly proud, and he was bragging about it quite often.
It was a Friday, and Trevor didn’t know what to do that day. Hence, his friends suggested they visit a female junior schoolmate’s house.
This female junior schoolmate was Camille, a hardworking student who always buried herself in studying.

Trevor recalled the first time he met Camille. He had difficulty persuading her to let them go to her house to play, as she felt they were like bandits and was afraid that they, would ransack her house.
Trevor could tell that his friends were interested in this girl, so he generously pulled out a few dollar notes and placed them on Camille’s book. “Here, it’s for you!”
Camille was taken aback by his actions as his hand slapped her book. She raised her head. Trevor smiled at her happily. Camille had never been this close to a boy before. She lowered her head and pulled the book out of his hand. “Why do you all have to come to my house?”
“Are you trying to offend your senior schoolmates?” Trevor used a threatening tone, which seemed extremely fierce.

Camille lowered her head. It was common for classmates to hang out at each other’s houses, but no one had ever been to her house. However, Aunt Gemma would be angry.
“I’ll let you guys know after school.” Camille packed up her backpack and ran away.
Standing inside a telephone booth outside the school, she was plucking up the courage to call Aunt Gemma. After getting Aunt Gemma’s approval, she agreed to let them go to her house. There were only three boys, and most of them were girls.
“It’s so boring and shabby!”
The boys who wanted to pursue Camille complained after entering her house.
Trevor stood at the door with his hands in his pockets and a lollipop in his mouth. He never expected that there could be someone living in such poor living conditions.
“Oh my god, your bedroom. Why is it like this?” A few girls exclaimed as they came out of Camille’s room.
Camille wanted to tell them to keep their voices down so Aunt Gemma, who was playing cards at the neighbor’s house, wouldn’t hear them.
Trevor was staring intensely at Camille’s embarrassed face. Usually, Trevor talked a lot, but he seemed to be the quietest and calmest.
Standing at the door of Camille’s room, Trevor saw that the walls were not very white, had three plastered sides, a small window, a worn wooden bed, and an iron nail on the wall with a small mirror hanging on it.
Trevor couldn’t describe the feeling in his heart.
Looking at Camille smiling at him, Trevor couldn’t understand how this pure and clean girl could live in such a house. Camille cooked a table full of dishes, but others refused to eat them. However, Trevor surprisingly ate a lot.
Camille was the kind of person who was not sociable and had a gentle personality but could be a little temperamental if provoked.
At the dining table, the girls chatted happily while the guys gossiped. Trevor picked up a dish and slammed it on his friend’s face, cold–eyed. Then, he grabbed his friend by the collar and threw him into the alley. He disappeared with mixed
emotions.
Everyone was shocked.

Especially the guy who was covered in sticky vegetable soup.
Camille was the most confused of all.
Meanwhile, Trevor looked up at the night sky.

The sky was filled with stars, shining brightly like the innocence of youth. It was that day when Camille became the person closest to his heart.
Someone walked up the small bridge where Camille was sitting, and the creaking sound of the wooden planks woke her up.
Camille yawned and covered her mouth.
How did she fall asleep?
Camille stood up and turned around, only to see a familiar figure.
The person also froze upon seeing her, eyes widened.
As if seeing a ghost.
