Chapter 29
Was Camille not here?
Trevor left Luke and searched for her everywhere he could think of.
He went to the restaurant, but the door was, and no one was there.
The restaurant was dark inside; nothing but
les and chairs lit by the moonlight.
He kicked the door right in.
“Who are you!” Jenna screamed as she stood at a distance, pointing at Trevor.
Her eyes went wide with shock.
Trevor turned around. Jenna wore the same clothes as Camille.
He stepped forward, and Jenna stepped back in fear. “Wh–what are you doing?”
“Do you know Camille? Camille, who works here…” Trevor stepped closer toward Jenna.
Jenna was so scared that she stammered. Her mouth quivered. “I do… I know her. What’s the matter?”
Jenna covered her mouth. Did Camille get into trouble?
“Take me to her.” Trevor grabbed Jenna’s uniform and yanked her after him.
Trevor dragged poor Jenna around to look for Camille, but Camille seemed to have vanished into thin air. She could not be found anywhere.
The banquet was about to start. Annoyed, Trevor lit à cigarette. “It was her. But… Why is she hiding from me?”
“How are you two related? Why are you looking for her?” Defensively, Jenna stood two meters away from Trevor. She sized up the incredibly handsome man who was looking for Camille.
Trevor did not speak. He only frowned as he smoked his cigarette.
He noticed Sarah walking toward them from afar.
Sarah saw a hotel attendant standing beside Trevor. Puzzled, she approached them. She smiled and asked, “Trevor, the banquet has started. What are you… doing here?”
The woman’s suspicious gaze fell on Jenna.
Jenna looked at the man and the woman in an equally puzzled manner. They appeared to have a complicated relationship.
“I have some work to do. Bye,” Jenna said as she hurriedly rushed off.
“Let’s go.”
Trevor twisted the cigarette butt to put it out and walked toward the banquet.
Luke was the most popular person at the banquet, but he did not like talking. Along with Helen, he gave a toast to several distinguished guests.
“Trevor, I’m going to the bathroom,” Sarah stood
- up.

Trevor nodded and took a sip of red wine. He kept his eyes on Luke, who was entertaining the guests in the distance.

“Luke didn’t let you down. Leicester Hotel’s development has significantly exceeded our expectations in a few years. And we’re seniors in the industry, too.” A man, who was in his fifties, exchanged pleasantries with Luke and Helen.
“You flatter me too much.” Helen smiled modestly, but her face glowed with pride.
Luke’s cold gaze searched the crowd, seemingly looking for something.
Trevor watched him closely, not letting him out of sight.
“Excuse me,” Luke gave his wine glass to the waiter behind him and strode away.
Jenna was so busy that her heels ached. She had only fetched some red wine when she saw the CEO’s tall figure walking out.
He seemed to be in a hurry. Soon, she saw another figure rushing out without looking back.
She fixed her gaze on that person. It was the man who was looking for Camille earlier…
Luke searched in a lot of places, but to no avail.
Damn it! Where the hell did she go? What the hell happened at that time? Does she… know Trevor?
He had a deep suspicion in his heart.
Eventually, Luke returned to the banquet and found Heather.
“Mr. Walter?” Heather was startled, afraid that the restaurant department had done something wrong.
Luke asked, “Have you seen Camille? Did she ask you for permission to take the day off or go anywhere?”
Heather shook her head. Although curious about what had happened, she did not dare to ask. She could only answer, “She didn’t. But now that you’ve mentioned it, I haven’t seen her all evening.”
“Alright. You may leave.” Luke turned around after he finished speaking.
Heather began to leave, feeling confused.
“Wait. “Luke called out to Heather.
“What else is the matter, Mr. Walter?” Heather could see that the CEO was anxious about Camille.
Luke paused. “Do you… know her cell phone number?”
Heather pursed her lips slightly. She took her cell phone from her handbag, looked through her contacts, and gave Camille’s phone number to Luke.
Luke strode away.
He called Camille’s cell phone. There was no answer.
He dialed again, and there was still no answer.
For the first time, Luke was so anxious that he wanted to smash his phone.
He went up to the rooftop of the restaurant. There was no one…
Just as he was about to turn around, he saw many tablecloths being hung to dry in the middle of the rooftop. There was light flashing. Luke frowned and moved closer. “Camille…”

As soon as his sturdy hand–lifted the tablecloth, Camille looked Back in fear. When she saw his worried face before her, she seemed to find a semblance of calmness.
But she could not tell whose voice it was. Her mind was full of Trevor.
“What’s wrong?” Luke reached out his hand to touch her face.
Luke’s voice was gentle and warm. Under the cold moonlight, her delicate face seemed to be covered in traces of tears.
She felt bitter. Years of heartache and despair weighed on her heart.
Just as Luke’s hand was about to touch her, Camille jumped off her chair as if electrocuted. Looking behind Luke in horror, she ran toward another exit on the rooftop.
“Camille!”
Luke called her, his voice full of urgency.
She stumbled down the rooftop. She had no time to care about her injured toes and wrists. Luke was shouting at her, about to catch up at any time.
She ran out of Leicester Hotel and rushed toward the main road,
Earlier, she had seen Trevor standing behind Luke…
It was as if she had done something terrible. As if she was running away from a thousand soldiers.
She told herself she must not be found by Trevor, no matter what.
The lights of the cars on the street were particularly blinding while she continued to flee in a panic. However, there seemed to be no safe place where she could stop.
“Camille-” Luke caught up with her. But he did not dare to step forward when he saw her holding back tears and pursing her lips to stop herself from crying. “Don’t do anything reckless. Come back. I have something to ask you. Listen to me. Come here…”
Camille did not listen to his words. She turned around. She was slightly relieved when she did not see that person’s figure…
She stared at Luke. She said, her voice quivering, “I’m fine, Mr. Walter. Please make your way back.”
When she finished, she ran toward the middle of the road.
“Don’t run!” Luke yelled, looking at the vehicles approaching in the distance. Quickly, he ran forward and wrapped her in his arms. Holding her tightly, he pulled her back to the side of the road.
Time seemed to stand still as he held her tightly in his arms. He frowned deeply, eyes bursting with anger. He could feel her quickened heartbeats. Quickly, he released her and took two steps back, panting sharply.
She stood stiffly.
Luke asked, “Why were you running? Do you know how worrying that was?”
She bit her lip. “I’m sorry…”
Luke, who had no place to vent his frustration, reached out with his slender arms and hugged her again tightly.
“There’ll be no next time.” His reproachful voice fell into her ears
