Chapter 1
Eight years ago, my boyfriend Antonio Kaufman fell into a slump after losing a match.
I stayed by his side and supported him for eight years, encouraging him to return to boxing.
Finally, Antonio became the champion again.
However, at the awards ceremony, he gave the trophy to his first love, Lola Johnston.
Antonio said he wanted to celebrate his victory with his beloved.
When the host asked about me, he simply said, “She’s my maid.”
The whole room fell silent at Antonio’s words.
Shocked, the host almost lost grip of the microphone. He looked at me, then at Lola, who stood beside Antonio, chuckling awkwardly, “So we’ve got it wrong these years…”
“Everyone, don’t be mistaken. I’m Antonio’s girlfriend. We just didn’t make it public before. Isn’t that right, Antonio?” Lola held the trophy in one hand and wrapped the other arm around Antonio’s, showing great affection.
I turned to stare at Antonio, and he was looking back at me, his eyes were filled with indifference. “Yes,” he confirmed.
The crowd cheered, offering congratulations and saying they

I just stood silently in the crowd like a clown, fists clenched, face ashen.
“Grace, what’s going on? Why did he say Lola is his girlfriend? That woman abandoned him when he was at his lowest.
You’re the one who helped him rise again.” Lilith Wagner’s face turned red with rage, and she almost rushed up to confront Antonio.
“Lilith, wait until later.” I stopped Lilith, struggling to hold back my tears. I wanted to know the answer even more. Why did Antonio do that?
When the crowd cleared, I walked into Antonio’s private lounge as I was used to.
I pushed the door, but it didn’t open. Antonio’s hoarse voice came from the inside, thick with unmasked desire.
It was a sound I only heard when we had sex. So, he and Lola…
The thought snapped the last composure I had left.
I pounded the door with my trembling hand, yelling in a panicked voice, “Antonio, open the door! Open the door!”
The sharp and insistent knock finally forced the people inside to open the door.
What came into my sight made my heart ache.
Lola was leaning in Antonio’s arms, some hickeys visible on her neck.
Antonio’s gaze toward her was burning with heat. After a

moment, he turned to look at me, his expression returning to its usual coldness.
He carefully draped his jacket over Lola, looking at me with impatience. “What do you want?”
“What do I want? Antonio, aren’t you going to give me an explanation?” I–looked at him, his coldness stabbing me like a
knife.
For all these years, he had always been like this. I’d seen him show some passion in bed, but never that intense gaze.
I used to think it was just who he was, but now I knew he wasn’t born distant; he was just not that passionate about me.
“Why should I explain anything to you? It’s not like we’re in a relationship.” Antonio’s words tear my heart apart.
Lola echoed, looking at me with disdain, “Yeah, Ms. Parrish, what are you talking about? Antonio is my boyfriend. Why should he explain anything to you?”
She had never taken me seriously, not eight years ago, not
now.
It seemed I could never replace Lola’s place in Antonio’s heart.
