Back at the office, I dived headfirst into my job.
Winning that awesome award really paid off. I got a raise and suddenly my job was more hectic than ever.
Right after I got back, Tyler packed up and left for Wigocia, leaving his place empty.
About a year later, a young guy moved in next door.
We had the same green eyes, which was kind of weird. His name was Darrell Holden, and he was a hoot. Plus, he was easy on the eyes.
It turns out we worked in the same area, and since our schedules were the same, we kept running into each other.
After a couple of months, he dropped the L–bomb on me.
I didn’t say yes, but Darrell wasn’t giving up.
He had a good sense of when to back off, never pushing me into anything, and I actually liked hanging out with him.
I just wasn’t ready to dive into a relationship yet.
Time flew, and two years later, on Christmas, Tyler filled me in that Michelle’s mom had passed away the month before.
Michelle got locked up for nine years for attempted murder.
The wind was biting, but I didn’t feel the cold.
Chapter233
Tyler talked and talked, but he didn’t say a word about Antonio.

I heard Antonio had been to the hospital twice this year for stomach bleeding.
Even when he was stuck in bed, he couldn’t stay away from
the booze.
But that was his problem, not mine.
After he finished talking about Michelle’s mom, Tyler, with a bit of courage, piped up, “Grace, you flying back for
Christmas?”
“No, I’m all good here,” I said.
I bagged another award two months ago.
Wigocia held no ties for me. I was all about grinding and hitting those bigger goals these days.
Stepping outside, I soaked up the rare warm rays of the winter sun, feeling it had just opened me up.
There, Darrell was standing with the light behind him, his hair gleaming gold, making his good looks pop.
My heart did a little dance.
I stashed my phone and waved at Darrell, who was hanging out there for me.
He sauntered over with a grin, his eyes all over me.
Actually, the idea of diving into a relationship wasn’t that bad.
