Janelle and her ex–husband had long since fallen out. She never dared to tell Antonio that her cheating led to the divorce.
She hadn’t worked since getting married. The divorce left her with nothing, so she turned to Antonio, pretending she still had feelings for him to justify her return.
But what if the truth came out and Antonio found out the child was another man’s?
“Antonio can never find out!” Janelle promised herself.
After the check–up, Janelle looked really worried. Antonio thought she was stressing about the baby and tried to comfort her. “Don’t worry. From now on, we’ll focus on the baby.”
Janelle forced a smile.
Antonio wasn’t as calm as he sounded. He had never thought about marriage, and now a baby was suddenly in the picture.
After dropping Janelle home, he found an excuse to leave.
Once he was out of sight, Janelle’s fake sadness faded away. She picked up her phone and called a friend from out of town. “I’ve got Antonio. And I’m pregnant. Lucky me!”
Antonio froze, his hand tightening around the doorknob, as he listened to her gloating from behind the door.

“I threw that woman out of the picture. Sucks for her, crossing paths with me.
“Tino might be looking for her, but I’ll just say I feel sick, and he’ll come running back.
“He always trusts me! When she suggested checking the surveillance footage, he didn’t even bother. She can’t compete with me. Being Tino’s first love gives me an edge she’ll never have. Plus, he never even called her his girlfriend or anything. She’s a nobody.” Janelle’s unfiltered words hit Antonio like a punch in the gut.
“The footage?” he whispered, recalling the drama at Dessert Tryst. His body tensed, and his hand clenched into a fist.
Laughter echoed from the room, but soon it went silent.
Antonio was in turmoil. He hurried to the parking lot and drove to Dessert Tryst.
He made sure no one was around and reviewed the footage from a week ago.
The video clearly showed Janelle provoking Grace until she staged her own fall. Grace didn’t touch her at all.
Their conversation was recorded too, and Antonio’s face grew darker with each of Janelle’s words.
He remembered how she had convinced him to find evidence against Grace. As he thought about her phone call just now, his blood ran cold.
His heart raced as he tried to message Grace. Once the text was ready, he realized she had blocked him on WhatsApp.

After a long beep, he found out his number was blocked too. Grace had cut him off completely. His heart sank, and he felt like he couldn’t breathe.
Antonio couldn’t hold back any longer. He dashed downstairs and headed straight to Grace’s place.
The moment he opened the door, shock and dismay washed over him.
The living room, once cozy with Grace’s things, was now empty.
The only thing left was a closet full of clothes he had bought for her. It was as if she had vanished without leaving a trace.
Antonio stood rooted, his mind blank. His phone buzzed, snapping him back to reality. It was a call about a package waiting for him.
But Antonio didn’t recall ordering anything. Confused, he made his way to take the package.
It turned out to be an envelope. As he tore it open, the first line caught his eye and froze him: “Grace Parrish voluntarily entrusts all her assets to Antonio Kaufman.”
He was desperate to find Grace and get answers, but every attempt to reach her fell flat. Frustrated, he lit a cigarette.
Antonio just couldn’t get why she was so mad this time.

“Fine, give her more time to cool off. She’s probably still mad, or she wouldn’t have gone through all this trouble,” he thought.
His phone lit up with a message from Janelle, asking him to come over. His face clouded over again.
He just couldn’t bring himself to reply or head back after what he heard outside her door and saw on the footage.
“Guess I don’t know Janelle as well as I thought, huh? Is her sweet demeanor just an act?” he murmured to himself. He almost hated himself for doubting her, but he couldn’t shake the feeling.
He stayed in the house for hours, finishing his last cigarette. Eventually, he decided to hit up their mutual friend, Kylie Gallagher.
Kylie knew all about Janelle’s relationship with her ex- husband. She might be able to give Antonio some clues.
