Chapter 23
Lewis and Grace held a grand wedding.
Originally, Grace just wanted a simple one. She wanted to invite close friends and family, then announce solemnly, “We’re married!”
However, Tessa didn’t agree.
She took the entire charge of the wedding. From venue setup to table arrangements, she left Grace with nothing to worry about.
The only thing Grace needed to do was smile at the camera, a genuine, natural smile.
Tessa, imitating the young, used a selfie stick to take photos of Lewis and Grace.
As the pictures gradually cleared, Grace spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.
The wedding lasted for hours. By the time it ended, it was already approaching dawn.
Grace changed into a comfortable outfit and held Lewis’s hand, ready to head home.
This was the first time the two of them were truly husband and wife, their fingers tightly intertwined. Feeling the warmth from her palm, Grace felt incredibly happy.
As soon as she opened the door, Grace saw Antonio a few

Antonio slowly approached but was stopped a few steps
away.
He looked at Lewis standing in front of him and said with a tone filled with jealousy, “Your wedding is known all over the city. Do you think I can snatch her away or what?
“Grace, I have something to say to you.”
Hearing that, Grace looked at Lewis with a calm expression. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
Lewis gave Antonio a warning look, then stepped back a meter, watching from a distance.
Grace turned to face Antonio, her face as calm as still water, her tone indifferent.
“I’m already married. Let’s not meet again. If you have anything to say, say it all at once.”
As soon as Antonio heard that, his heart, which had just started to rise, plummeted back down.
His face turned pale, yet he said with a tone filled with stubbornness, “I was hospitalized. After I last saw you, I fainted on the way back. If it weren’t for someone saving me, I might never have seen you again.”
A flicker of annoyance crossed Grace’s face. She didn’t want to hear Antonio’s complaints.
“After I got out of the hospital, I drank every day, trying to escape from the reality that you are no longer mine.”

Antonio gave a bitter smile. “You know what, my parents have never been so worried about me like this. They sit by my bed every day, fearing I may die.”
He slowly took out the silk box from his pocket, opened it, and held it up to Grace’s eyes. “I bought this ring a long time ag
ago, for you, but it seems useless now.”
Antonio looked up at Grace, but after just one glance, he couldn’t bring himself to look at her again.
After a long silence, he said in a hoarse voice, “I’m sorry.”
In fact, even Antonio himself didn’t know the point of this apology, although he had indeed owed her so much.
However, Grace didn’t need his apology.
After all, if it hadn’t been for waking up from the relationship with Antonio, she wouldn’t have been so happy right now.
“Here, take it,” Antonio said in a low voice.
“No, thanks. My husband wouldn’t like it, and I already have a ring.” Grace lifted her hand, showing the ring on her finger.
Antonio’s face contorted as if he had been stabbed. “Are we really going to lose each other forever?”
Grace ignored Antonio’s feelings and said indifferently, “You’re wrong. What we’ve become today is all because you didn’t cherish me. Once upon a time, I took 99 steps toward you, but you wouldn’t even take one step toward me.
“I’ve already moved on, and I’ll never go back. Moreover, you’re not worth it.

“Now, am I clear?”
Antonio watched Grace’s departing figure and finally couldn’t hold back his emotions any longer. He started crying with his hands over his face.
Beside him lay the beautiful diamond ring.
Diamond rings symbolized love, but not everyone’s love was worth singing about.
Antonio returned to Grace’s old house. He still kept the house and clothes. He even hired a housekeeper to clean from time to time.
He looked around the room Grace used to live in, trying to find something in his memory. However, he just felt like something was missing.
But in fact, nothing had changed.
It was just that his beloved, the one he didn’t cherish as a treasure, Grace, would never come back.
He numbly walked downstairs, wandering aimlessly on the street like a lost soul.
The next second, a speeding car collided with him.
Before losing consciousness, Antonio thought he was going to die. Somehow, he felt relieved and muttered, “Well, that’s not bad, actually.”
