Chapter 6
With the party ruined, the guests didn’t bother to hide their discomfort and began to leave.
Yet, Grace felt an odd urge to stay and see what would go down.
Antonio and Janelle were stuck in a nasty fight nearby. Grace couldn’t catch their words, but Antonio’s furious look said it all.
In their three years together, Grace had never seen him this out of control.
Eventually, Antonio hit his breaking point and stormed off alone.
Janelle, on the other hand, acted like nothing had happened and strolled back inside.
As Grace got up to leave, Janelle blocked her way, raising an eyebrow. “You’re the pastry chef hanging around Tino, right?”
Grace wasn’t in the mood for a fight. She was leaving soon anyway. While Antonio was to blame for this mess, Grace didn’t want any trouble.
As she tried to get past Janelle, Janelle taunted her. “Who do you think you are? You’re not even good enough to be my stand–in. Tino won’t even call you his girlfriend in front of them. Don’t you get how pathetic you look?”
Grace glanced at her, unfazed. “This is between me and him.

Janelle took a moment to find the right words, then fired back, “I’m his unforgettable first love. And you still don’t get it, do you? Tino’s already decided to dump you and come back to me. Just thought I’d give you a heads–up out of pity.”
Not giving Grace a second to react, Janelle pointed at the huge, fancy cake behind her. “I bet I can make it happen right now?”
Then, in a dramatic flair, Janelle fell backward, covering herself in cream and hitting her head on the table corner.
The loud crash brought people rushing in, and soon the place was packed again. Not knowing what had happened, they pointed at Grace. “Antonio’s your boss. You’re just jealous of Janelle and pulled this stunt?”
Antonio pushed through the crowd to reach Janelle. She had passed out, and he scooped her up. “Nellie, Nellie, wake up!”
Janelle wasn’t responding. Antonio whipped his head around to Grace, fire in his eyes. “She did nothing to you. Why did you hurt her?”
Grace tried to get a word in, but Antonio wasn’t having it. He bolted for the door, carrying Janelle.
“I didn’t hurt her. She did it to herself. Check the security tapes,” Grace yelled after him.
Hearing this, he turned, his face cold. “Grace, I was wrong about you. Leave. You’re not welcome here anymore,” he said, each word clear and cutting.
