Chapter 7
She paused, as if to reassure the person on the other end. “Don’t worry, once I marry Robert, all his assets will be ours.”
I followed Robert upstairs.
When he opened the door to the bedroom, he stopped in his tracks, stunned.
Robert frowned, looking ahead, and I followed his gaze.
In that spot, there used to be a wedding photo of us–one that we had hung up together.
But now, it was gone, leaving behind a bare, white wall.
As Robert stood there, dazed, Molly came up from behind and wrapped her arms around his waist.
voice was filled with feigned panic. “Robert, I’m so sorry. I was checking the photo frame today and accidentally dropped it, breaking it. So I put it away. You won’t be mad at me, right?”
Robert stood there, motionless, letting Molly hold him.
After a long silence, he forced a faint smile. “It’s fine.”
I couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
As expected, this was the Robert I knew.
No matter what Molly did, he would always choose to forgive her unconditionally.
