Chapter 5
“People who lack something often want to flaunt it. Honestly, I feel sorry for you.”
“You say all this just to prove to me that Norton loves you. But if a man truly loves a woman, he wouldn’t let her end up in the position of a mistress, would he?”
“From the moment Norton decided to cheat, he became garbage in my eyes. So, there’s no need for you to spend your time arguing with me about who he loves. I really couldn’t care less about what happens to garbage in the end.”
“Oh, by the way, the diamond ring you’re wearing, if you look at the light just right from below, you’ll see three letters: M–N–Y.” (My Nancy)
asn’t lying about that. The reason I’d waited so long was for that small detail.
Kitty text bubble kept showing that she was typing, but I never received a reply.
Norton came home in the afternoon, still wearing yesterday’s suit.
As soon as he entered, he instinctively raised his hand to cough, covering his mouth, his eyes darting everywhere but at me.
Before he could speak, I was the one who pushed the packed bags toward him.
“I’ve packed my things. We’re breaking up.”
Norton finally looked at me, his body swaying, a look of disbelief crossing his face.
“What’s this about? Just because I had something come up yesterday, you’re going to break up with me?”
Apparently, he still didn’t know what Kitty had done.
His brows furrowed.
“Is it really worth this over such a small thing? I had an emergency, Allen was in a car accident! How could I not go? If you don’t believe me, you can
call him and ask”
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
He already had an alibi.
Norton yelled at me, irritated, tugging at his tie.
At that moment, a red mark on his neck became visible when he pulled the tie.
I grabbed him and pulled him toward the mirror, yanking open his collar, my voice cold.
“Was this hickey from a mosquito bite?”
Norton’s face paled. He instinctively tried to block it, stammering as he explained.
“It’s not what you think I just bumped into something yesterday.”
I pulled out the photos Kitty had sent and showed them to him, shaking my phone.
“Keep lying.”
Norton’s face finally turned to panic. He kept swallowing, his mouth opening and closing, but no words came out.
Suddenly, his gaze fixed on the empty wall, and his eyes began to redden.
“Helen Timothy, did you already plan to break up with me?”
I nodded, not denying it.
“From the moment you cheated, you should’ve known this would be the result.”
