Chapter 11
Chapter 11
I thought my coldness had finally pushed Ronan away for good, but instead, it drove him to the brink of madness.
He followed me, shouting behind me, apologizing over and over, claiming he had just been confused about who he truly loved.
But Ronan, six years wasn’t enough for you to figure it out.
And now, suddenly, after the divorce, you know?
Or is it just that you can’t bear to lose a woman who cared for you so deeply and helped you climb the ladder of success?
that day, Arden seemed to disappear.
She stopped fighting for the inheritance, and I thought the storm had finally passed. I could move on, start fresh.
But life wasn’t done with its surprises.
Arden’s child, Lily, passed away.
She had a heart condition that couldn’t be treated because Arden didn’t have the
money.
Every day, she camped outside the hospital, holding up a sign and shouting for justice.
No one paid her any attention–doctors were too busy with patients, and she was left to fend for herself.
As a journalist, I often passed by the hospital, catching glimpses of her.
She was unrecognizable, dressed in shabby clothes, her face tired and haggard, shouting in the cold wind.
Ronan didn’t
help her.
Instead, he publicly declared that he had no connection to her or the child.
The house he’d once promised her.
Taken back.
He even produced security footage proving nothing had happened between them that night, exposing her lies.
But Arden didn’t go after him.
She
came after me.
“It’s all your fault, Eve!” she screamed, blocking my doorway one night.
Her eyes were wild, and she held a knife, trembling in her grip.
–
“If you had signed over the inheritance, Lily would’ve had the money for her treatment! You killed my daughter!”
Her voice broke into a sob.
“You should die for what you’ve done!”
The narrow alley was empty, save for the two of us.
She waved the knife threateningly, edging closer.
Her face twisted with anger as she muttered, “You’re going to pay for my daughter’s life.”
Her words struck a nerve.
Memories of my own child flooded back, the pain and guilt surging through me.

went through so much, and now she’s gone?” she cried.
“be you knew what it was like? Watching her die, clutching my hand, tears in her eyes? She was just five months old!“
In that moment, I saw the truth.
We were both mothers who had lost everything.
And no matter what I said, she’d never forgive me.
While she ranted, I quietly dialed 911, my heart pounding.
the sound of sirens grew louder in the distance, and Konan suddenly appeared, limping toward us
“You’re both innocent,” he said, his voice weak. “It’s all my fault.”
