Chapter 9
#Isabelle.” Lily sneered. “You think you’re happy now that you’ve ruined Steven? Just because your daughter died, you act so pitifed, trying to make the whole internet mourn for her. What, is your daughter some kind of sun goddess? So precious. It’s because of you two that Steven won’t even look me anymore.”
“I’m not happy,” I replied coldly. “Because you haven’t been punished.”
Lily froze, then narrowed her eyes, smirking provocatively. “Imph, give it up. John is my cousin, I bought him off long ago. He’ll never rat me out. If I had known it would come to this, I would’ve been more ruthless and killed you both, making it look like an accident.”
She laughed, a proud, carefree smile. Rage burned within me, my whole body trembling as I stared her down, wishing I could tear her apart. This
man was truly vile.
“Are you angry? Furious? But what can you do to me? From now on, I’ll make sure your life is miserable every single day,” the continued. Til have people throw filth at your door and drive you insane until you join that little brat in the afterlife.”
“What did my daughter ever do to you? She was only six….” Suddenly, Steven emerged from the kitchen, eyes bloodshot, glaring at Lily as ke demanded, “What did you say?”
“Steven, why are you here? I was just saying all that to provoke Isabelle. Don’t take it seriously,” Lily stammered, her face turning pale, her legs trembling.
“Is that so?” Steven’s expression grew more menacing.
Lily swallowed hard, sensing danger, and tried to run. But Steven chased after her.
I stood there and called the police. Earlier that morning, Steven had approached me with a plan to lure Lily into confessing. I had prepared a recording device in advance. Everything Lily said was recorded and could be used as evidence.
