Love Story6 Chapter 1
Love Story6 Chapter 1
AUX pm. I sat at the dinner table, holding Eve in my arms, waiting for Robin to come home. A small birthday cake was placed on the table.
Today was Eve’s first birthday. I had planned to throw a party, but after suggesting it multiple times, Robin always turned it down, citing work
commitments.
When he didn’t show up, I called him.
Just as I thought the call was about to end, Robin answered, his tone distant, like he was just informing me, “Eden, I have to work late tonight. I won’t be home for dinner.”
k late?
I looked at Vera Hicks‘ WhatsApp moments. In the photo, she was smiling brightly, while Robin stood beside her, gazing at her with a look of indulgence.
The caption read: “A year ago today, I chose to end my life. A year later, I was reborn. Thank you, Dr. Robin.”
I called Robin again.
He answered impatiently. “What now?”
I paused for a moment, looking at Eve, who was quiet in my arms, and said, “Today is Eve’s first birthday,”
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line, then Robin replied, “I know. I’ll be home later.”
Eve smiled at me sweetly, and I wiped the tears from my eyes, forcing a smile. “Eve, sweetie, daddy will be home soon to celebrate your birthday.”
But as the clock struck midnight, Robin still hadn’t returned. I called him once more.
This time, a soft female voice answered, “Eden, Dr. Robin had a bit too much to drink tonight. He’s staying at my place.”
I didn’t respond. Suddenly, I remembered that today marked the tenth year since Robin and I had been together.
A wave of exhaustion washed over me. Eve had already fallen asleep in my arms, and I felt the ache in my arms but couldn’t bring myself to move.
Since I got pregnant, I had quit my job and devoted myself to taking care of her.
Ihadn’t left the house in a long time.
I lowered my head, looking at Eve’s peaceful face, and gently placed her in the cradle. Then, I walked out of the house.
A City was a coastal city, and the wind from the sea sent a shiver down my spine. Standing on the cross–sea bridge, I gazed into the distant black waters, as if it could swallow my heart.
I closed my eyes and jumped.
I felt my body plummeting, the sea water flooding my nostrils, slowly suffocating me.
My soul gradually detached from my body.
The scene on the cross–sea bridge became chaotic–police cars and ambulances surrounded the area.
girl, rushing off to her night shift, had passed by. She didn’t have time to grab me, only able to watch as I jumped, trembling as she dialed 120.
My soul drifted out and landed in Vera Hicks‘ home.
Robin had drunk, but he wasn’t drunk.
Vera had just taken her medication and lay quietly in bed.
Robin sat by her side, speaking to her gently, patiently.

Love Story6 Chapter 1
Vera Hicks was a severe depressive that Robin had taken on as a patient a year ago. She had attempted suicide and was saved by the police before being sent to the psychiatric ward.
While he was busy providing psychological counseling to Vera, I had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease,
That night, when Robin went to sleep, I had intended to tell him about my condition, but instead, he spoke about Vera,
He told me that Vera had been abused by her father during her childhood and that her mother, who had gone mad, committed suicide. This left Vera with deep psychological scars.
Seeing how similar their experiences were, Robin felt a deep sense of compassion for her.
He said he would cure Vera.
