Lignored his nonsense and took out my phone, ready to call the police.
Pardes Miller slapped my phone out of my hand, scolding me,
“I’ve told you a hundred times, no police! This is a critical time for my promotion! The leadership is assessing our personal qualities right now. If this matter blows up and brings negative attention to our company, how can I compete with others?”
I lunged forward, grabbing his collar, and screamed hysterically, “Are promotions and raises more important than our daughter’s life?”
Pardes Miller sneered coldly, his eyes filled with a greed and madness I couldn’t understand, “You, a woman, wouldn’t understand!
opy got beaten by Jack’s son and had these photos taken. She has no chance of competing for my position as a supervisor.”
“In front of the reporters, I made the situation seem smaller than it was, greatly reducing the negative impact Jack brought to the company.
“The leadership will be grateful to me! If I get promoted and given a raise because my daughter got beaten up, it’s a sure win for me!”
“She’s just a little kid, she doesn’t understand. But can’t you see what I’m planning?”
It dawned on me that Loopy being bullied, the sudden interview, it was all part of Pardes Miller’s deliberate scheme.
In that moment, my disappointment in him reached its peak. I shoved him away and rushed to Loopy. “Loopy, don’t do anything stupid! Mommy will get you justice.”
“Mom, I heard everything. Daddy doesn’t love me.”
Loopy was crying as she took slow, deliberate steps toward the edge of the roof.
Loopy, no!”
Before I could finish, Loopy cast one last cold glance at Pardes Miller, who had just arrived, and jumped without hesitation.
“Pardes Miller, you killed our daughter! I’ll kill you!” Loopy had jumped, and no matter what, I couldn’t forgive Pardes. I grabbed a nearby object and rushed toward him.
Pardes Miller shouted “Crazy woman!” and turned to run downstairs.
I followed him down the stairs, only to realize Loopy was still alive.
Thankfully, the police had already arrived with the help of concerned citizens. They set up an air cushion, and since the building wasn’t very high, Loopy wasn’t seriously hurt. She was still crying in fear, though.
I finally managed to calm Loopy down enough to sleep, but I overheard Pardes Miller talking to the police.
“Officer, I’m so sorry for the trouble we’ve caused.”
“My daughter’s fine. She just failed her exams and was under a lot of pressure, which made her impulsively try to jump. We’ll guide her through this,
no need for an investigation.”
After Loopy had jumped, he could still lie so coldly and mercilessly.
I gritted my teeth, my disappointment in him transforming into a deep, burning hatred.
I pulled out my phone and sent a message to Jack, telling him that Pardes Miller had secretly incited Jack’s son to bully Loopy to further his own career and even bribed the media to create a positive image for himself.
If Jack didn’t take action soon, Pardes Miller would successfully push him aside.
I believed Mike Smith would know exactly what to do.
Meanwhile, Pardes Miller was full of confidence, already dreaming of being promoted to supervisor.
