In the quiet room, a sudden voice startled everyone. Christopher nearly jumped right onto James.
Chloe pulled out her phone and saw the caller ID, Michael.
“Chloe, I’m worried about you. Turn on your video so I can step in right away if anything happens,” Michael said.
Chloe initially found it a bit inconvenient, but then remembered the video had a recording function, which could be useful. She held the phone and followed James and Christopher as they started searching the bedrooms.

The four–bedroom house was thoroughly searched; they didn’t miss a single corner, even checking the tops of the closets.
Yet, they found nothing.
“This place is just cleaner than when I left, but there’s nothing unusual,” Christopher said, scratching his head.
Christopher recalled how much he used to wish he had one to clean up his house when he wasn’t around.
Now that something similar seemed to be happening, it was terrifying.
It turned out that in real life, when one encountered something like this, his first thought was to call the police.

After searching all the other rooms, they gathered in the living room. Chloe, tired, sat down on the sofa.
“There’s nothing in the rooms. Could it be in the living room?” Chloe asked.
Christopher felt a chill run down his spine at the suggestion.
His living room was spacious but sparse, with an open layout to the kitchen, so it was easy to see everything at a glance.
If someone was really in the living room, they would have spotted them already.
“Let’s grab some water first,” Christopher suggested.
Christopher had been on edge the entire

time, and now his throat was dry. He just wanted some water.
He walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. The next second, he screamed.
James and Chloe jumped up in alarm, rushing over to see what had happened.
Inside the fridge were several dead rabbits, still dripping blood. Their white fur was soaked, turning into twisted, horrifying clumps.
Chloe was shaken as well.
Being pregnant, she wasn’t supposed to see such gruesome things, so she quickly turned away.
James, who was braver, walked over and

pulled the rabbits out. Underneath them
was a greeting card, all cute with bows and everything.
James opened the card. Some of the words had been smeared by the blood, making it hard to read.

But he could still make out some of the
writing: [I know you like rabbits, so I brought you some! But they were running around, so I had to put them in the fridge. I wonder when you’ll find this surprise!]
The message sent chills down Christopher’s spine. He had no idea whether it was a man or a woman calling his name and leaving dead rabbits in his fridge.
“Do you like the rabbits?” James asked.

That question made Christopher lose it. “Like them? Are you kidding? They’re dead! Would you like them?”
He was scared to death, and James was asking if he liked them?
If he liked them, he wouldn’t be normal!

James, seeing how freaked out Christopher was, sighed. He had just meant to ask if he should throw them out. They were creepy, for sure.
James wasn’t scared, though. He’d seen far worse on the battlefield.
But he knew Chloe was frightened; she
still hadn’t turned back around.

After James threw the rabbits out,
Christopher and Chloe were both sitting on the couch.

James walked over but saw the couch was crowded, so he sat down on the leather
recliner instead.
As soon as he sat down, something about the chair felt off.
He couldn’t quite describe the feeling, but even a battle–hardened man like him felt uneasy and jumped up immediately.
“What the hell is this chair made of?”
James exclaimed.
