When they got back to the car, Michael asked, “Ready to head back?”
Chloe had come out pretty quickly today. He had thought he’d be waiting for a while.
Chloe was deep in thought as she reached out to buckle her seatbelt.
After they had driven for a while, she suddenly realized something was off. She slapped her thigh hard and exclaimed, “I’ve got it!”

But just now, when Gideon mentioned that thing about Christopher’s stalker fans, Chloe realized something was off.
Even though Christopher had been caught by the paparazzi at the police station yesterday, neither he nor James had explicitly *said what happened.
People outside should only know that Christopher had a stalker.
But Gideon had just precisely mentioned how the stalker followed Christopher home and even stayed there without leaving.
That was definitely suspicious.
“Chloe, what exactly is wrong with Gideon?”
Chloe didn’t have time to explain. She glanced at the traffic ahead and frowned. “We need to turn around right now.”
She was worried that once Gideon confirmed Christopher was safe, he might make a move against him.
“The traffic ahead stretches almost 0.6 miles. Turning around will take some time.”
They were currently on an overpass, making it impossible to turn back easily.
“Why is it so crowded today?”
Chloe remembered the last time she came this way, the road hadn’t been this congested.
“There’s an international superstar performing a concert today, so the crowd’s heavier than usual.”

Although Chloe wasn’t strapped for cash, she still found the price ridiculous, jacked up by scalpers. Fortunately, she wasn’t into celebrities or concerts anymore.
With the traffic jam ahead, Chloe and Michael had no choice but to inch forward. By the time they got off the overpass and could turn around, forty minutes had already passed.
Chloe had a bad feeling, so she urged Michael to drive as fast as he could without speeding.
Despite Chloe’s rush, she never expected that she wouldn’t make
it in time.
When they finally parked, Chloe rushed to find Christopher, only to see the filming set in complete chaos, with medical staff hurrying inside.
Her heart sank. She grabbed a crew member and asked, “Do you know where Christopher is?”
The crew member was startled. “Mr. Martinez? He had an
accident during filming. They’re preparing to take him to the hospital now.”
Chloe’s mind went blank as she stared in disbelief at the bustling scene in front of her.
“What happened to him?”

“There was a problem with the wiring on set, causing issues with the lighting and power. Mr. Martinez was in the middle of a wire stunt when it happened, so…”
Chloe didn’t need to hear the rest. She already understood.
She ran toward the crowd and saw Christopher lying on a stretcher, barely conscious, as paramedics carried him out of the
set.
As they passed her, she noticed blood still dripping from Christopher’s hand.
Chloe’s mind buzzed, and all the other sounds around her
became distant and faint.
Turning her head, Chloe saw Gideon standing not far away.
He stood there quietly, his expression calm. Half of his face was hidden in the shadows, making him appear half in light and half
in darkness.
