Chapter 708 The Lead
Chloe raised her eyebrow. It seemed this person wasn’t as simple as she had thought.
“I think so too. Do you have any idea who it might be?”
Christopher’s face darkened. “Gideon Pierce.”
Chloe pursed her lips. “You’re that sure?”
Chloe had her suspicions that Gideon might be involved. She didn’t expect Christopher to be so certain, almost like he had anticipated Gideon would target him.
“We’re not with the same company. His company has always competed with Bright Moon Entertainment.”
“What does company competition have to do with you? Is he going to target every actor at Bright Moon Entertainment?” Chloe asked, skeptical.
Chloe thought this reasoning was a bit far–fetched.

“Do you know who was originally cast as the lead in this movie?”
Chloe’s heart skipped a beat. “Gideon Pierce?”
Christopher nodded. His agent had insisted on getting him the lead role. With Christopher’s high profile, the director wanted to

capitalize on his popularity, so they replaced Gideon with him, bumping Gideon down to the second male lead.
“Wait, wasn’t the lead supposed to go to the third male actor?” Chloe asked, confused.
Chloe remembered that the news originally said Christopher was swapping places with the third lead.
“Do you think Gideon would admit his role got taken? He’s an award–winning actor. If people in the industry knew he lost his part to some trending star, he’d be humiliated.”
Chloe wasn’t deeply familiar with the entertainment world. After hearing Christopher explain, she thought these actors sounded quite complicated.
But then, she remembered the first time she had met Gideon.
No wonder he had hinted that Christopher should drop out of the movie. So, that was why!
“Chloe, can you help me find evidence that Gideon’s behind this?”
Chloe felt a headache coming on. “I’m a cybersecurity researcher, not the police. How am I supposed to investigate this?”
Did he think she was some kind of all–powerful superhero?
“Please, I’m begging you. You know I have a complicated status.

If this gets the police involved, it’ll only drag more people into
the mess.”
Gideon might have earned his title as an award–winning actor on his own, but his background made things more complicated.
This sort of thing needed to be handled quietly.
“I can’t promise I’ll find anything, but I’ll try.”
Chloe sighed, feeling like her new nephew had brought a lot of extra trouble into her life.
As Chloe left the room, Ainsley turned to her and asked, “Chloe, what did Calvin say to you?”
Chloe explained everything that had happened, and Ainsley’s eyes grew cold. “Gideon Pierce? The award–winning actor from the entertainment industry?”
Chloe knew that for the Miller family, Gideon was no threat at all.
However, Christopher still wanted to continue his career in showbiz, so it was best not to reveal his connection to the Miller family.
People would start asking questions if the Miller family openly went after Gideon.
That was why Christopher had asked Chloe for help and not Ainsley.

Ainsley returned to the room and told Christopher that the Miller family could step in and that Gideon would never be able to work in the entertainment industry again.
In fact, they could even send him to prison.
But Christopher refused.
“No! I don’t want the Miller family involved!”
Ainsley frowned. “Don’t be so stubborn, okay?”
Christopher didn’t think he was being stubborn at all.
“The Miller family never cared about me. Why bother now? Didn’t we cut ties ages ago?”
Ainsley was stunned when she heard Christopher mention cutting ties.
“We’re family. There’s no need to talk about cutting ties. Your dad was just angry at the time. He didn’t mean it. Don’t take it to heart.”
It wasn’t that Christopher was being petty, but what his father had said to him back then was hard to forget.
“I’m tired today. I don’t want to talk. Please leave.”
Ainsley looked helplessly at her son, wanting to talk more. He had already turned away, refusing to engage.

Both James and Michael asked in unison, “Why are you going to the police station?”
