He groaned in pain and collapsed to the ground.
Turning around, Erik saw the driver, wearing sunglasses, approaching with a gun in hand.
Gasping for air, Erik desperately tried to rise but fell again, his legs unable to support him.
“Who are you? I don’t know you at all. Why do you want to kill me?” he shouted.
The man with sunglasses stared coldly at Erik, pointing the gun at his head. At that moment, everyone around them had scattered due to the sound of the gunshot.
James and Michael finally crossed the road and rushed towards them.

However, when they reached Erik, they saw a bloody hole in his chest.
He was already dead.
James cursed irritably, “Damn it!”
The pistol he carried had a limited range, and he couldn’t have fired earlier.
Even if he had, there was no guarantee he would hit his target.
The police quickly arrived and took James and Michael away.
Although James had shot the driver, it wasn’t a fatal wound. The driver was taken to the hospital, while Erik had died on the spot.

Once the police learned about the situation, they handcuffed the driver to the hospital bed.
“Should we go back first? What if Chloe notices something is wrong?” James asked Michael, expressing concern for Chloe.

her.
But Michael had no intention of leaving. “Since this man is a killer sent by someone else, if we’re not here when he wakes up, he will most likely try to escape.”
Michael didn’t want to take any chances, but he also didn’t want Chloe to worry. So, he asked James to stay in the ward while he went outside to call Chloe.
Chloe was at home. When she received a call from Michael saying that he had something to deal with, she immediately asked, “It’s about William’s brother, right?”
