Now, out of nowhere, William took over a major company. It didn’t make sense. 

“What’s TerraEdge, anyway?” Chloe asked. 

She was not very familiar with the business world despite having worked as a flight attendant and now managing her own team. 

“It’s a recently listed internet company, making quite a splash,” Michael replied. 

Something about the situation seemed off. 

“William told me he hated the idea of being a businessman. That’s why he became a chef. So why the sudden change? Was he forced by his family?” he added. 

Everyone had questions, but no answers. Chloe brought her laptop to the table and started digging into the company’s background.

As she scrolled through the data, her unease grew.

She said, “This company has been around for years, but it stayed under the radar until this year when it landed a major project. 

The previous head of the company was William’s father.” 

Candy set down her fork. “So how much is this company worth?” 

“It’s not small,” James said. 

Despite being a soldier, he knew enough to gauge that. If it was on TV and getting this much attention, it should be big. 

Chloe nodded at Candy. “Indeed.” 

Although she didn’t specify the amount, everyone present was well acquainted, so Candy had a good idea of the value implied in those words. 

Candy and Chloe locked eyes, both with complex emotions. After a moment, Candy asked, “Chloe, are you thinking about the same thing I am?” 

Chloe asked back, “Are you thinking the same thing as me?” 

“I think we are,” Candy replied. 

Michael and James, however, were confused. “What are you two

This was indeed a private riddle between Candy and Chloe, 

as they had been friends for many years and had a deep understanding of each other. 

Chloe knew everything that was on Candy’s mind. 

That tatic understanding was something James and Michael couldn’t quite grasp. 

“Oh, Chloe and I think that William’s sudden return to 

the country and the sudden death of Erik abroad are very suspicious. It’s too much of a coincidence,” Candy explained. 

Chloe nodded, “And his attitude towards Erik was strange.” 

Although he kept saying he didn’t acknowledge Erik and that Chloe could do whatever she wanted with him, he never even inquired about the situation at home. 

This was out of character with the refined image he had presented to Chloe and Candy before.

Moreover, when Chloe called him yesterday, he didn’t seem surprised at all about Erik being hunted down and killed. It was as if he expected it to happen.
