Without another glance at the graves, I turn and make my way toward the old mansion.
I push open the rusted gate, wameing as it screeches in protest. Every instinct screams for me to leave, but I shove the fear aside. If my parents though The Crescent Stone was worth dying for, then it’s worth whatever danger les abrad.

As I step into the grand hall a faint sound reaches my ears–soft, almost imperceptible. A low growl.

The growl deepens, and from the shadows emerges a wolf–black as midnight, its eyes glowing a sickly green. My breath catches. It’s not just Others follow, their forms materializing like wraiths from the darkness.

“The Crescent Stone,” their leader says, his eyes gleaming with greed. “We know it’s here, and we know you’re the only one who can find it. So why don’t you save us all some trouble and hand it over?”

Joel and Marcus moves strategically to protect our rear. Sebastian faces them headlong. The other two wolves in our pack protects our flanks. I am right in the center of it all.
