Chapter 69

The war room fell into an uneasy silence as Cassian, Aurora, Nathan, and Anica remained inside. The map of the territories lay spread across the table, the inked markings representing not only the Lycan King’s reach but the limited time the pack had to prepare for his next move.

Cassian’s eyes remained fixed on Anica, suspicion etched into every line of his face. “You said Aurora’s bloodline is tied to the Lycan King’s plans. Explain—now.”

Anica leaned casually against the edge of the table, their golden eyes gleaming in the dim light. “Your mate isn’t just any wolf. She carries a power far older than this pack, one connected to the Moon Goddess herself. That’s why the Lycan King is after her. She’s the missing piece to his ultimate plan.”

Aurora’s pulse quickened, the words sending a jolt through her. “What kind of plan?”

Anica turned their gaze to her, their expression softening. “He wants to use you to unlock something ancient, something that’s been hidden for centuries. It’s said the blood of a chosen wolf can awaken the power of the Celestial Pact—a bond that would make him unstoppable.”

Nathan frowned, his arms crossing. “And you know this because…?”

“Because I’ve seen him try before,” Anica said, their voice heavy with bitterness. “He thought another could unlock the pact years ago, but he failed. The power wasn’t strong enough in them. With Aurora? He believes he’s finally found the one.”

Aurora’s hands tightened on the edge of the table. “You’re saying my blood could help him become… what? A god?”

“Not quite,” Anica replied. “But close enough. The pact would bind every wolf to his will. No one would have the power to resist him—not packs, not Alphas, not even Lycans. He wouldn’t need to conquer territory; it would all belong to him by default.”

Cassian’s voice cut through the growing tension, his tone cold and firm. “Then we stop him before he has the chance to get anywhere near her.”

Outside, the camp bustled with quiet activity as the wolves worked to rebuild after the recent battle. Reinforcements from allied packs had arrived overnight, bringing a brief sense of relief to the battered territory.

Aurora moved among them, helping where she could. She passed out supplies, patched makeshift shelters, and offered quiet encouragement to the weary wolves.

But no matter how busy she kept herself, the weight of Anica’s revelations pressed down on her. She couldn’t shake the image of the Lycan King standing in the shadows, his glowing eyes fixed on her like a predator sizing up its prey.

“Overwhelmed?”

Aurora turned to see Anica standing a few steps away, their expression unreadable.
