Chapter 20 Parent–Child Sports Meetingl
It was Parent–Child Sports Day.
Ariella changed into her sportswear, while Raul wore a matching outfit, making them look like a parent–child duo.
“Mom, will we win?”
Raul looked into the mirror. Despite being so young, he was already quite vain.
He tugged at his sleeves, adjusted his collar for a bit, and took out three pairs of sneakers to pick from.
In the end, he chose a purple–and–black pair, which looked really cool with his clothes.
Finally satisfied, he punched the air in front of the mirror, as if he was set on taking first place.
Ariella felt great too. She’d been eating well, sleeping well, and her work had been going smoothly. She was energetic, her skin glowing, and she looked even more beautiful than usual.
“Sure we will!”
She took Raul’s hand, heading for school. They arrived there right on time.
The children gathered together to listen to the teacher explain the rules and safety tips, and the parents waited on the playground.
Ariella didn’t expect to be standing next to Lailah.
The kids at this kindergarten were mostly from wealthy families, so the parents were normally well–off.
So even though Lailah didn’t wear a mask, no one seemed to notice this celebrity.
Ariella looked around and saw Jovan talking to other parents about potential business deals.
“Ariella, how’ve you been recently?”
Her tone was gentle, with no sign of any grudge between them.
Ariella didn’t want to waste words with the person who had hurt Reddie. She coldly said, “It’s none of your business.”
“How could it be?”
Lailah looked a little down. “If Jovan hadn’t used my birthday as the password, you wouldn’t have got so mad and stayed away, right?”
Ariella suddenly remembered that she had once thought about using their wedding anniversary as the password for their villa, but Jovan had said that such an obvious one would be easy to crack.
Instead, Jovan set up a random string of numbers that seemed to have no pattern.
She didn’t think much of it at that time.
But now Lailah was trying to expose the truth, mocking her for being deceived for many years.
“Thanks for guarding the gate for five or six years. Honestly, even Reddie is not as responsible as you.”
Lailah’s face instantly darkened.
Reddie was killed by her, but Ariella had just compared her to him.
Lailah really wanted to slap her right there.

But this occasion did not allow her to act on her anger.
She bit her tongue and endured it.
Once the tension died down, she noticed that the teachers were leading the children over to the playground.
Suddenly, she smirked.
“You moving out actually brought me closer to Jovan. Leo even secretly called me ‘mom‘.”
Lailah pointed to the sparkling diamond necklace around her neck.“This necklace was a gift from them.”
The necklace glistened brightly in the sunlight.
“Jovan said it looks great on me because my skin is so fair, and he couldn’t resist…”
She didn’t finish her words, but the look on her face said it all.
Ariella suddenly remembered that the last time at the golf course, Jovan had been carrying a box with a diamond necklace in it.
She thought, “First love is indeed different. He even had to protect the gift, afraid something might go wrong.”
Then she said, “Is that so? You’d better watch out. They have been conducting strict inspections recently.”
“You!” Lailah seethed with rage, her eyes burning with fury.
Her tone could no longer maintain the previous calmness.
It sounded like she was ready to explode.
“Ariella, you were just jealous that I got the father and son, so you deliberately adopted that illegitimate child, right?
“But what you don’t realize is that you’re actually pushing Jovan further away!
“You were really pathetic!
“Your own son didn’t invite you. He asked me to be his mom, and you ended up seeking comfort from a bastard.”
Ariella’s eyes turned cold, and the air around her was as sharp as an icy arrow.
“Lailah! Rauly is my son–watch your mouth!!”
Lailah, however, was feeling pretty smug, as if she had finally turned things around.
“Did you come by yourself? Don’t you know that this activity requires both mom and dad?”
She said with a mocking expression, “Ariella, you’re not thinking of winning back Jovan through this event, are you?”
Before Ariella could respond, she sneered.
“Stop dreaming. Jovan only has me in his heart. You’d better just get a divorce; otherwise, you will be the one suffering!”
As soon as the words fell, the children ran over to find their parents.
Raul ran together with Leonel.
They were running towards Ariella.
Raul sprinted ahead and threw himself into Ariella’s arms.
Leonel froze for a moment.
Then, he grabbed Lailah’s hand.

Lailah shot a provocative look at Ariella before pretending to be gentle.
“He’s chatting with friends over there. He will join you in a while.”
Leonel instantly beamed.
He yelled towards Raul, “You stole someone else’s mom, so now you don’t have a dad. It’s all your fault.”
“If it weren’t for you, my mom and dad would’ve been happily together a long time ago.
“The teacher said, ‘Dad has to carry the child across the river‘. Since you don’t have a dad, you can just fall into the
river!“”
Raul wasn’t scared at all. He stood with her hands on her hips, fuming.
“My mom is a superhero. Having a mom is enough for me!”
Ariella stepped in front of Raul to protect him, glancing at Leonel before speaking up.
“What do you gain from digging up someone else’s scars?”
Lailah retorted, “Leo is just telling the truth. Are you saying that you don’t allow your child to tell the truth?”
Ariella replied coolly, “Indeed, the mistress always likes to twist the truth.”
Lailah was so angry that she almost lost control of her expression. “Ariella, what are you talking about?”
Ariella spoke lightly, “I’m just telling the truth. What? Can’t I tell the truth now?”
That one sentence left Lailah choking on her words.
Fortunately, the dean announced the start of the event and began introducing the invited guests, successfully drowning out their argument.
Lailah snorted coldly and turned her face away, ignoring them.
Ariella gently rubbed Raul’s face, making sure he wasn’t upset. Then she looked at the stage, her face filled with surprise.
The invited guest turned out to be Kaleb.
Originally, he was one of the investors of this kindergarten. Today, he was announcing that he would donate a building.
The audience applauded loudly.
Immediately after, Kaleb said, “To show my sincerity, I will participate in this event.”
“I heard that some kids only have their mothers here, so I’d like to have those kids invite me to join them, and I will try my best not to be a burden.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Raul raised his hand high, jumping in place to make sure he saw him.
Ariella wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.
Kaleb’s gaze was drawn over, and his smile grew warmer.“Okay, thank you for letting me join.”
He handed the microphone to Elena and slowly walked towards Ariella.
