Two hours later at Riverside Villa, Isabella had finished getting ready, changed into a loose light green silk robe, and sat at the small wooden table in the middle of the room, beginning to trim the flower branches.
The flowers in the vase had already wilted. After Isabella had a confrontation with Cameron and left the alley, she came across a small flower stall. Seeing the flowers blooming so brightly, Isabella decided to buy a large bouquet.
A gentle breeze wafted through, teasing Isabella’s long hair and creating a peaceful, serene scene.
At that moment, her phone started ringing
Isabella glanced at the phone screen, noticed it was Samuel calling, and paused briefly before answering the video call.
She placed the phone on a nearby stand and continued trimming the flower branches.
Seeing she was busy, Samuel paused briefly and then gently asked, “Have you had dinner yet?”
Isabella nodded and replied, “Yes.”
She looked up at Samuel, noticing he was still in his suit with a slight frown. “Haven’t you taken a break yet?” It was almost ten in the evening.
Samuel leaned back in his chair, his eyes fixed on Isabella. In a calm voice, he said, “Just finished up my
work
kabella hesitated with the scissors, picked up a flower and trimmed away the extra leaves, then looked at Samuel and said, “When I got off work today, Xavier and Darryl treated me to dinner.”
She mentioned it as casually as if she were just chatting about her day. This might be how most couples talk to each other.
Samuel wasn’t surprised. It made sense for them to invite Isabella to dinner.
Isabella set the scissors down, placed the trimmed flower branches in front of her, and then picked up a vase to start arranging the flowers.
Her voice was steady as she continued, I ran into Cameron on my way back”
Samuel’s eyebrows knitted together immediately, and he straightened a bit in his chair, asking in a serious voice, “He didn’t hurt you, did he?”
Samuel’s cold eyes were fixed on the video, trying to see if Isabella was hurt.
Isabella shook her head and casually placed a pink lisianthus in the vase. “It’s just a few troublemakers. They can’t hurt me.”
If Cameron wasn’t still useful, she would have dealt with him tonight.
Samuel noted her mention of a few, and a cold, sharp aura suddenly surrounded him.
He said coldly. “He dared to bring people to confront you? Looks like the Lane family has a death wish.” A small family like the Lane family really couldn’t afford to mess with Samuel’s girl
Isabella put down the flowers and looked at Samuel, reassuring him, “Don’t worry, I’ve already set them up to turn on each
other
Using violence solves problems quickly, but it wouldn’t ease the anger inside her. After Cameron almost ruined her, things couldn’t just end like that.
Samuel paused, his cold demeanor fading, as a look of appreciation crossed his eyes. Isabella might seem delicate, but her

actions were both brave and clever.
But her safety was crucial. Samuel said sternly, “From now on, you must have bodyguards with you when you go
Today, Cameron underestimated Isabella’s ability to fight back. Now that he had figured it out, what would happen next was beyond anyone’s guess.
Isabella placed the final sprig of flower into the arrangement, taking a step back to admire her work. The flowers were beautifully arranged, an elegant display.
Placing the flowers down, she looked at Samuel and objected, “No need. Having bodyguards around is just inconvenient.”
Isabella cringe at the thought of being followed by a group of strong bodyguards everywhere she went. It was just too unreal. Besides, she was perfectly capable of protecting herself.
But Samuel was unyielding, firmly declaring, “I can agree to everything else, but not this one”
Isabella put down the scissors, observing Samuel’s determined stance. She realized there was no avoiding it tonight. She rubbed her forehead and sighed softly, “Only one will do.”
Samuel nodded in agreement. “Alright.”
They each made a concession.
Now that Isabella had finished arranging the flowers, the two exchanged looks. Neither was quite sure how to end the call. The awkward silence lingered between them
Isabella tucked her long hair behind her ear, hoping to ease the tension. But as Isabella moved, the strap of her silk nightgown came loose, letting it slide off her shoulder.
Her smooth skin was exposed to the air.
Samuel’s eyes darkened at once. Last time, she had quickly covered his eyes when her towel slipped, but this time, nothing was left to the imagination.
Suddenly, Isabella got flustered and quickly grabbed the nightgown to put it back on.
Isabella’s cheeks felt like they were on fire, burning with embarrassment. She didn’t need to see to know she must be blushing intensely.
She was frustrated with herself. She couldn’t believe it was happening again. But Samuel had seen everything,
She instinctively looked up at her phone and saw him smiling at her in her confused state.
Isabella’s face turned even redder. She glared at him playfully and said, “You’re still laughing”
Samuel’s smile widened as he leaned closer to his phone. This nightgown looks good on you. I’ll buy you a few more
sometime.
Isabella felt her whole body flush as blood rushed to her head. Samuel was teasing her
She quickly turned her head away from Samuel and blurted out I’m going to sleep now. Bye.”
Before Samuel could respond, Isabella, blushing, had already hung up the phone.
Samuel’s smile slowly faded, becoming cold and
serious as he muttered, “The Lane family. He would make them pay.
Isabella gathered the leaves from the table, stood up, and walked to the bathroom. She washed her face with cold water to
cool down.

Looking down at her nightgown, she sighed softly and murmured, “I can’t wear this anymore.” This kind of embarrassing situation couldn’t happen again. Just thinking about that moment made Isabella’s skin crawl.
After tidying up, Isabella finally lay down
The next day was a fine day,
In the morning, the garden sunroom was filled with blooming flowers, and the air was lightly scented with their fragrance, refreshing to the senses.
Isabella sat quietly on the couch, absorbed in a book.
Megan walked over from the front yard with a young girl in tow and respectfully said, “Mrs. Howerton, this is the person Mr. Howerton arranged for you-
Isabella had just looked up when the girl suddenly shouted, “Watch out, Mrs. Howerton!”
Isabella barely noticed something flash before her eyes, and then a white shadow darted in front of her, quickly pulling her up. Almost instantly, the lampshade from the sunroom ceiling crashed heavily onto the spot where Isabella had just been sitting.
Megan shrieked in fright, shrinking away to one side.
The young girl pulled Isabella to her feet, her big eyes filled with concern. “Mrs. Howerton, are you okay? Were you scared?”
Isabella glanced at the lampshade on the ground, then lifted her gaze to the girl.
The girl standing before her was only in her early twenties, slightly chubby cheeks with delicate features, and her hair was up in a bun, which added a touch of cuteness to her. She was wearing a plain white T–shirt, denim shorts, and a pair of simple white sneakers.
Isabella shook her head with a smile and said, I’m fine.”
Rachel breathed a sigh of relief as she stood before Isabella with a grateful look. “That’s good. Let me introduce myself. I’m Rachel. I’m 21 years old. Mr. Howerton sent me to protect you.”
