Chapter 150
Isabella smiled at Rachel and said, “Take some snacks and come with me
Initially, Isabella hadn’t intended to bring Rachel along, but she as worried that if she didn’t take Rachel for a long time, Samuel would find out.
Rachel’s eyes lit up with excitement as she looked at Isabella and said, ‘Mrs. Howerton, you’re finally taking me out! If Mr. Howerton knows you let me enjoy the easy life at home, I’ll probably get kicked out!”
Isabella smiled. After Rachel gathered some food, they set off.
In about an hour, they reached their destination.
Upon entering through the revolving glass door, they were greeted by a magnificent crystal chandelier. Its bright light cascaded, shimmering across the gleaming white floor tiles.
The lobby, styled with an erotic flair, featured a golden reception desk at its forefront, adorned with a large pot of vibrant purple clivia flowers, which brought a lively element to the opulent setting.
The arrival of Isabella and Rachel immediately drew everyone’s attention.
Isabella donned a navy–blue dress adorned with embroidery, paired with a plain white blouse, achieving an elegant and cohesive style.
Her hair was styled with a gem–encrusted hairpiece, pinning up half of it while the rest cascaded down her left shoulder, giving her the appearance of a wealthy celebrity.
Everyone’s eyes were filled with envy and awe. Some even started whispering among themselves, unable to contain their
excitement.
Rachel didn’t notice any of the whispers and stares. Instead, she exclaimed, “Wow, this company is really impressive!” Isabella smiled slightly and told Rachel beside her, “Just wait for me in the lounge.”
Rachel hesitated and asked, “Are you
vou sure
you
don’t need me to go with you?”
Isabella replied, “This company has good security. Don’t worry.
Rachel thought for a moment and then nodded obediently, saying, “Alright.”
Then, she turned and skipped towards the lounge.
Isabella watched Rachel’s back with a hint of indulgence in her eyes before heading to the reception desk.
Two receptionists stood at attention, looking towards the entrance in confusion. They didn’t know Isabella showed up. Recently, Isabella and Jayden had been trending online, so almost everyone recognized her.
The receptionists politely nodded at Isabella, and one of them asked, “Miss, do you have an appointment?”
Isabella made her way to the receptionists, stopped, and asked. “Xavier invited me over. Could you tell me how to find him?”
But just as Isabella said so, she remembered the incident when she went to find Samuel and had a fight with Wendy. Isabella added, “I don’t have an appointment, but I can call Mr. Cox and confirm it with you.”
Having been through it before, Isabella wasn’t eager for a repeat of the past.
Chapter 150
The two receptionists exchanged glances before turning their attention back to Isabella. One of them spoke up, “There’s no need to call Mr. Cox. Please wait a moment; we’ll check with the CEO’s office.”“
Isabella nodded and, without saying more, turned and walked slowly towards the lounge area.
As soon as Isabella sat down, she could hear whispers around he
Someone said, “Isn’t that Isabella, the one rumored to be connected with Jayden?”
Another person replied, “Yeah, I just saw her photos online and in sure it’s her.
The first person asked, “Why is looking for Mr. Cox? Is she trying to charm him too?“
Many people eyed Isabella with a hint of disdain.
Isabella glanced around. All the gossip came from employees of the Cox Group. She lowered her gaze, unfazed–she was used to people talking about her all the time.
Rachel, however, frowned deeply, her expression darkening as she clenched her fists and glared at the gossipers.
Seeing Rachel look ready to confront those people, Isabella smiled at her and said, “Don’t worry about them. It doesn’t bother me.
Rachel said. “They’re so rude! Mrs. Howerton, I’m your bodyguard, and I can’t let anyone attack you, even just with words!” As she spoke, Rachel was about to stand up when Isabella quickly grabbed her arm and said reassuringly. “We can’t control what others say, and besides, their words won’t hurt me.”
Isabella’s calm demeanor momentarily left Rachel stunned. Rachel found Isabella to be amazing, like a high–profile individual who didn’t get flustered by minor issues.
Before Rachel had a chance to ponder further, she heard the distinct clang of a coffee cup being nonchalantly set down in front of Isabella.
Isabella and Rachel looked up at once. Standing in front of Isabella was a girl in a beige skirt suit, her long hair slightly curled, looking pretty and attractive.
Ashley Stanfield, Xavier’s childhood friend, had joined the Cox Group. The Stanfield and Cox families had been close for generations.
It was Ashley who had persuaded her father to secure her a position there, primarily because she had a fondness for Xavier. However, she didn’t actually do much work.
Ashley’s only main task at the company was to watch every woman who got close to Lucas.
Even if some employees liked Xavier, they didn’t dare to show their feelings, afraid of Ashley, who was already widely acknowledged as the future Mrs. Cox.
At the moment, Ashley stood with her arms crossed, staring coldly at Isabella with disdain, and asking, “Isabella, right? What are you doing here?”
Ashley clearly heard everything Isabella said to the receptionists.
Isabella frowned at Ashley’s haughty attitude. She gripped her phone tightly and retorted bluntly, “What does this have to do with you?”
Ashley’s expression clouded instantly, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. “You’re targeting my future husband, and you believe it’s none of my business? Do you even think before you speak?” she questioned sharply.

The whispers started again
Someone said, “Hey, look, Ashley can’t sit still. Isabella’s gonna leirn her lesson.”
Another person remarked, “Indeed, Ashley usually appears superior, but today she’s surprisingly more likable.”
Someone else remarked, “That’s right. Guess what goes around comes around for those kinds of people.”
The onlookers snickered quietly, enjoying the spectacle.
However, all these words were heard by Isabella and Rachel.
Rachel jumped up from the couch, hands on her hips as she glared at the circle of women around her. She shouted, “Why don’t you say that a bit louder if you dare? Mrs….
Rachel paused, recalling Isabella’s caution to keep her identity under wraps. Then, with a challenge in her voice, she resumed, “Ms. Stout is courteous and refrains from insulting people, but I’m not cut from the same cloth. Would you like to
test that?”
Rachel then turned to Ashley, defiantly asking, “And who are you? If you’re with the Cox Group, be respectful to Ms. Stout, and if you’re not, then step aside.”
Isabella was slightly surprised, amusement lighting up her eyes as she looked at Rachel
It seemed that Rachel really had a knack for arguing.
She didn’t say a single harsh word, yet she left others speechless
Ashley quickly looked Rachel up and down and sneered, “Where did this barking dog come from? Move aside.”
Ashley took a step toward Isabella and threatened, “Isabella, I advise you to behave and stop trying to flirt with Xavier. He is out of your league!”
Ashley thought, “How dare this bitch set her sights on Xavier? She must be out of her mind
Isabella’s eyes turned cold as she said seriously, “Miss, if you’re accusing me, please provide evidence, otherwise I have the right to sue you for slander.”
Isabella didn’t want to waste too many words with Ashley, but staying silent wasn’t an option either–Isabella wasn’t someone to get pushed around.
Rachel and Isabella were polar opposites. Having grown up amidst conflicts, Rachel was not one to back down. Should anyone insult her or her family, she would confront them with a heated verbal barrage.
Rachel sneered, “Exactly, some people fancy themselves as swans when they’re nothing more than toads. Flirt? Ms. Stout has suitors lining up from here to Laetity; she doesn’t need to pursue your Xavier!”
Samuel was significantly better than Xavier. Why was Ashley being so paranoid?
The employees around were shocked, wondering who Rachel was.
Ashley was so enraged that her face turned red. She pointed her trembling fingers at Rachel and said, “How dare you!”
This was the first occasion in Ashley’s life when she had been insulted so openly, and it happened in front of numerous employees from the Cox Group.
Many employees had gathered around.
Someone whispered. “Ms. Stanfield always acts like the future Mrs. Cox in front of us. Now she’s being insulted by those two.

Another person said. “I agree. It’s the first time in a long while that I’ve seen her humiliated like this…”
Many people glanced at Ashley while talking, and she looked extremely unpleasant. She immediately glared at the crowd and shouted angrily, “What are you all looking at? Fuck off”
