Chapter 202
Before Jemny could finish her sentence, Ivans slapped her on the face.
Covering her cheek. Jenny stared at tans in disbelief, her voice trembling with Hurr ‘Ms. Stout, why did you hit mer
Ivana’s expression was twisted with anger as she glared at Jenny She said in a cold voice, “Why didn’t you tell me they needed high–quality emerald for the submissions to the Masterpiece Design Competition?”
It was all Jenny’s fault for not reminding her, leading to her hurliation in front of so many people. Ivana was so furious that she was shaking. She had never been this embarrassed in by life.
Jenny stood there, stunned Wiping away the tears from her stinging eyes, she stammered, “I thought you knew. You asked me if Isabella needed good emerald, and I said yes”
Jenny thought. What I said was me. Why did Ivana hit me for this? Her mood swings were becoming more and more frightening However, Jenny gritted her teeth and endured it, knowing it was for her career.
Ivana froze. They had indeed had that conversation, but she assumed everyone else was using regular emerald. After all, only Isabella was aiming for the gold award.
Using regular emerald was enough for the others to snag silver or bronze awards, but now she was being told they all had to use high–quality emerald.
Ivana thought. What a bunch of useless people! Even with the good emerald, they still won’t win the gold award, yet they all
ave the nerve to criticize me.
Ivana’s face darkened and the atmosphere in the office was thick with her oppressive presence. It was chilling, making everyone around her uneasy. Her voice slithered through the air like a venomous snake. “Get out
Jenny didn’t dare linger any longer because she was afraid that she would be hit again. She turned, her eyes icy, and walked briskly toward the office door.
Once Jenny reached her desk, she noticed everyone was busily working, leaving her even more confused about what had just happened. She looked up and saw Melanie coming from the storage room, so she immediately waved her over.
Melanie approached Jenny, holding a gem in her hands, and asked respectfully, “What’s going on, Ms. Walker?”
Inside, Melanie was anxious. There was no time to chat because she needed to get her submissions done quickly.
Jenny glanced at the gem Melanie was holding and immediately recognized it as the emerald that Ivana had locked away. “Did something happen just now?”
Melanie looked around and saw Isabella working diligently. Not seeing Ivana, she leaned closer to Jenny and–whispered, “M Stout locked up the emerald we needed, and Isabella got mad. She asked Ivana to hand it over, or she would take it to the shareholders.”
Jenny finally understood. No wonder Ivana was in such a rage. Her cheek still throbbed from the slap.
Now that Melanie was close, she noticed the red mark on Jenny’s face and frowned with concern. “What happened to your face, Ms. Walker? It looks a bit swollen.”
Jenny’s gaze darkened, but she shook her head, soothingly saying, “It’s nothing. I just ate some pineapple and had a bit of allergic reaction.”
Melanie nodded, not thinking too much about it. After all, she was busy. She gave Jenny a quick nod and said, “Take care o yourself. If it gets bad, take some allergy medicine. I’ll get back to work.”

Jenny waved her eif, signaling for her to leave. Sting at her desk she gripped the pen tightly, her eyes filled with a murky
expression
She thought, ‘It was clearly Ivana’s fault, yet she had indiscriminely slapped me. Was she crazy? She’d better stay away from me. If I got the chance. I wouldn’t let her off the hook rasite
Meanwhile, amidst the busy work environment, Isabella received flowers froin Samuel as usual. This time, the people in the office only glanced at her without saying a word.
Whether Isabella was being someone’s mistress was still up for debate. However, right now, they were all too busy to worry
about it.
Seeing Samuel’s flowers eased Isabella’s earlier frustrations. This time, instead of taking the roses home, she carefully split them up and arranged them on her desk,
She thought that since these people liked to gossip, she might as well let them.
Laura was struggling to choose gems. Most of them were irregularly shaped, which made it challenging to create them in the design she had in mind.
If Laura ground all these stones down to fit her vision, the final product might not even look good.
A look of frustration was evident on Laura’s chubby face as she pondered what to do.
Isabella glanced over and pointed at the red gem resting in Laura’s palm. “Use this for a hairpiece. Unlike a necklace, the irregular shapes can actually look better.” This way, the stone wouldn’t be overly wasted.
Then she pointed to a few others nearby. “For these, you’ll need to make the ring setting larger. Although the main stone is bit smaller, this will highlight it better. And make sure to choose higher–quality stones for the surrounding gems.”
Isabella’s words instantly cleared Laura’s mind. Her eyes brightened as the chaos in her head began to settle. What had ond been a jumbled mess of ideas was now taking shape in her imagination, forming a clear picture of the jewelry.
Laura nodded repeatedly at Isabella. I understand. Thank you, Ms. Stout.”
Isabella smiled slightly and replied, “You’re welcome.
If it were anyone else, Isabella wouldn’t bother saying much, but Laura had stood up for her several times. She didn’t min giving a little guidance.
Plus, Laura had great talent. Just her brief comments were enough for Laura to grasp the idea.
Soon, they all went back to their work. Before they knew it, it was lunchtime.
Laura stood up and stretched her stiff neck, finally feeling a bit more comfortable. She looked at Isabella and asked, “Ms. Stout, shall we go eat together?”
Just as Isabella was about to respond, Megan’s respectful voice came from the door. I’ve brought you lunch, Ms. Stout.”
Laura glanced over and saw it was the same woman who had delivered lunch to Isabella yesterday. Megan was dressed. simply, yet her posture was straight. Even though she was old, she showed no signs of stooping, her energy easily outshi many older women.
Laura assumed Megan was a relative of Isabella’s and didn’t think much of it. She waved goodbye to Isabella, saying. “En it. I’m leaving
Isabella nodded and walked over to Megan. She accepted the food box and gently said, “Megan, you don’t have to bring for me every day. I can eat in a nearby restaurant.”

Megan, however, shook her head with a smile. “Mr. Howertoned me to bring you lunch, te’s filled with everything you
like
As long as they were in love, Megan didn’t mind doing such a thing for them. Besides, Samuel had given her a raise, so she felt even more obligated to deliver the meals,
Not wanting to linger, Megan offered a respectful nod, saying with a smile, “Enjoy your meal, Ms. Stout. I’ll head back now. If you want something specific tomorrow, feel free to let me know advance.”
She turned and left through the door. Holding the lunch box, Isabella felt a wave of happiness. It felt wonderful to be remembered and cared for. Samuel had always done this for her secretly.
At that moment, Ivana happened to come out of the office and w Megan walking away. Her gaze fell on the lunch box in Isabella’s hands, and her brow furrowed in confusion. She thought, Who was that woman?”
Yesterday, she heard the rumor about an old woman bringing meals to Isabella, and now here was another instance.
