Even though the condition wasn’t the worst case of heart disease that their department had seen, it was still serious enough,

Charles thought. Honestly, this young lady really doesn’t seem to care about her health

Luna glared at Charles, thinking. This guy just look at him. He’s practically begging for a punch

Charles worried she might get too worked up and cause trouble, sighed softly. If you leave the hospital and something happens again, won’t you just end up back here anyway?” he said.

Luna stared blankly at him, speechless. She couldn’t argue with what he said. It made sense. But somehow, the way he said it just rubbed her the wrong way.

She pointed to the bag on the bedside table and snapped, “Your phone’s in my bag. Get it yourself.”

She had stayed behind primarily to return his phone, though she hadn’t expected to land herself in the hospital in the process.

Charles paused, his gaze falling on her.

“Wait… so she was sitting outside the operating room not to tattle on me, but to return my phone? He thought, feeling a bit guilty.

He had been in such a rush back then that his phone hadn’t even crossed his mind. Later, after Luna had been resuscitated. he had sent someone to look for it in the hallway outside the clinic, but it had vanished.

He’d assumed someone must have picked it up. He thought, “But it was her all along? She kept it safe for me?”

This realization left Charles feeling more than a little awkward.

He totally misjudged her.

Luna, noticing that he was just standing there, glared at him again. “What’s wrong?” she snapped, her voice sharp. “Do I have to get up and hand it to you?”

She thought nervously, “What’s with that look on his face?

Regaining his composure, Charles gave her a brief, nonchalant glance. “No need,” he replied faintly.

He turned around, picked up the bag, and handed it to her, much to Luna’s surprise.

She thought, 1 expected him to just grab it himself. It turns out he’s got some decency after all

Luna took the bag, pulled out the phone, and handed it to him.

Charles accepted it, pressing the screen to reveal countless missed calls. Confirming that it was indeed his phone, he let out at sigh of relief.

He raised his eyes to look at her. “Thanks,” he said casually-

But Luna wasn’t having it. She glared at him and snorted coldly, then cut straight to the point. “I went through hell because of your stupid phone, and all I get is a ‘thanks?”

She thought, Yeah, right, as if it’s that easy.

Charles’s mouth twitched. “I knew this wasn’t going to be simple,” he muttered under his breath.

He thought, “With her attitude, it’d be a miracle if she ever spoke nicely

Luna wasn’t angry, though. Instead, she smiled smugly at him. “Good that you know,” she said.

came to Charles, she never felt the need to hold back. She waved her hand dismissively, getting straight to her

Just arrange for my discharge now. It’s really simple, she said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

She didn’t feel any discomfort anymore, and staying in the hospital was making her restless.

Charles’s face darkened as he looked at her. “Forget it,” he said firmly. “You’re staying here and getting the rest you need.”

This was a matter of life and death.

If he let her go now, he might as well stop being a doctor altogether. It would be outright negligence.

Seeing her expression sour, Charles didn’t give her the chance to argue. “If you need anything, just call me. I’m off to do my rounds,” he said, turning and leaving without waiting for her response.

Luna’s brow furrowed in frustration. She thought, ‘Ugh, how annoying! I can’t even get discharged on my own terms

But as much as she wanted to leave, she knew better than to take risks with her health. She sighed and settled back onto the hospital bed, flipping through the script she’d been reading before.

She thought, If I can’t leave, fine. I can still work from here.

Riverside Villa. It was late at night, and the entire villa was cloaked in silence. The main lights were off, leaving only a few dim nightlights to break the darkness.

Samuel had just returned home from work. Changing into his slippers, he made his way slowly upstairs, his footsteps barely audible.

He glanced at his watch. It was already 1 A.M.

Reaching the bedroom door, Samuel paused, frowning slightly. ‘Bella must be asleep by now,’ he thought. He turned and headed toward the study instead

The sound of water running from the study’s bathroom soon filled the air. After freshening up, Samuel quietly pushed open the bedroom door and stepped inside.

In the soft glow of the bedside lamp, Isabella lay peacefully on the bed, her eyes gently closed as she slept.

Samuel slipped into bed carefully, lifting the covers as quietly as he could. But he had barely settled down when Isabella, still fast asleep, turned over and draped her slender arm around his waist.

Samuel froze, glancing down at her. Her breathing was slow and steady; there was no sign that she was about to wake up.

‘She’s so beautiful, he thought, observing the way her long lashes curled up like butterfly wings, casting delicate shadows under the warm light. Her lips were a soft shade of pink, making her look even more adorable.

He thought back to her lively energy at the office earlier that day, and couldn’t help but smile.

Gently, he pulled the covers over her, wrapping his arms around her as he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Isabella was jolted awake by the blaring sound of her phone alarm. She stretched lazily, then slowly pushed herself up, blinking sleepily at the empty space beside her. ‘Did he not come back last night? He’s always so busy! She wondered, feeling a pang of disappointment.

Then, with a small smile, she thought, “He seems to enjoy the dishes I cook. Maybe I’ll find time to bring him lunch again

sometime.

But not today. Today, she had a variety show to attend.

Just as she finished washing up and eating breakfast, her phone rang again. She didn’t even need to check the caller ID to

know who it was.

“Hey, lady! Are you heading out yet?” George’s worried voice came through the line. Even though he knew Isabella was reliable, it had been a while since they’d gone out together for work, and he couldn’t help but check in on her.

Isabella smiled, holding back a laugh. “Yeah, I’m leaving now. I’ll be there in about an hour, she replied

“Okay, great! See you then!” George sounded relieved.

“See you soon,” Isabella said, hanging up the phone and heading out the door.

Earlier, George had offered to pick her up, but she had declined. She didn’t want to reveal her location, so she opted to go on her own.

In front of a large vanity mirror, Alex and Stella sat side by side, makeup artists carefully working on their looks.

She pointed at a spot on her cheek, her brow furrowing. It’s caking a bit here,” she said. “I should’ve used a face mask earlier I mean, we’re recording with Jayden today, after all.”

Her eyes sparkled at the thought of Jayden’s presence.

Alex, on the other hand, was dressed in a casual white outfit, with a blue diamond stud in his left ear. His sunny smile gave him a warm and approachable vibe.

He couldn’t help but tease her. “You really think Jayden’s going to notice you?” he said with a

grin

Stella shot him a glare, though she knew he was right.

Alex stood and checked his reflection in the mirror, making sure his makeup wasn’t too heavy, Satisfied, he turned around just in time to see Jayden’s tall, graceful figure approaching. He nudged Stella’s arm excitedly.

Stella turned to look at Jayden, her heart racing.

Hey, Jayden, she greeted him with a polite smile.

nod.

“Hey, Jayden,” Alex gave a casual nod.

Jayden nodded back in acknowledgment, his assistant quickly finding him a seat as he made his way over.

Dressed in a tailored gray suit, Jayden exuded an air of effortless elegance. His hair was styled with extra care today. Taking him look even more refined than usual.

‘He really is in a league of his own, Stella thought, casting hum a furtive glance. ‘No wonder he’s a movie star.

Alex, too, was intrigued, but his attention kept drifting toward the door.

“Where’s Queenie?” he murmured, checking his watch.

Stella, while applying lipstick, shook her head and looked outside, curiosity evident. “Seems not yet. I wonder what this big shot Queenie looks like.”
