Top–tier VIP ward.
The room shone brightly with a charming glow thanks to the creamy, Laetitian romantic decor.
The light blue fabric sofa and the gold–edged glass coffee table exuded a warm, understated luxury feel.
Wrapped in the blue silk comforter, Isabella curled up, her body gently squirming, and let out soft moans
Samuel held her tightly, his hands clasping Isabella’s wrists, careful not to grip too hard and hurt her.
But Isabella wasn’t staying still and kept snuggling deeper into his arms.
Just as Charles walked in, wearing his white gown, he paused at the scene before him. “Whoa! Is this something I get to see for free?” he asked.
He playfully covered his eyes with his hand, though his fingers were spread wide, afraid to miss anything.
Samuel quickly pulled up the slipping blanket, anxious to keep Isabella’s privacy.
Glaring coldly at Charles, Samuel commanded in a deep voice. “Isabella has been drugged. Come over here and fix her up.”
Although Charles was renowned as a heart surgeon, there was virtually nothing he couldn’t tackle.
So, Samuel promptly instructed the driver to head straight to the hospital.
Charles looked at Isabella with surprise, noticing her face was usually flushed. She was definitely drugged.
Given her reaction, the dosage was likely quite high.
Charles moved closer to check Isabella’s condition carefully. Looking at Samuel, he remarked, “Wait, aren’t you two a couple? The best cure here is you.”
In the middle of the night, you’re rubbing your love in my face. Don’t you have decency?‘ he thought.
But the next moment, his eyes started darting around Samuel.
Then a sly grin spread across his lips as he teased, “Or are you not up to it, Mr. Howerton?”
Samuel shot a cold glare at Charles and threatened harshly. “Do you want to be sent to Alendor?” asked Samuel. “Damn it,” he said.
His face turned dark! Just thinking about that unbearable place made his smile disappear, and he said, That’s exploiting How heartless!”
“Hurry up. She’s in a lot of pain.” Samuel said urgently, not in the mood for jokes.
Charles knew the seriousness of the situation, so he didn’t waste time and seriously started preparing Isabella’s medicine.
Samuel held Isabella tightly. Each of her struggles was tormenting him.
Isabella was in extreme agony, her body soaked
“Ith cold sweat, feeling like a dying fish
Isabella couldn’t tell how much time had passed, but she felt something cool flowing into her body.

The scorching temperature, like a blazing furnace, seemed to be suppressed instantly.
A soothing feeling spread throughout her whole body.
Isabella unknowingly let out a soft breath and her rapid breathing slowly became steady.
Only then did the tension in Samuel finally ease.
His fingers gently lifted Isabella’s chin. Her lips, once rosy pink, now lacked any color and were surrounded by numerous
bruises.
Isabella’s shoulders and wrists were marked with red lines from the ropes.
The handprint on her face was even more visible.
Samuel’s eyes narrowed slightly and a cold light emanated from him.
After setting up Isabella’s intravenous infusion, Charles turned around just in time to witness this scene. He silently sympathized with the person who had angered Mr. Howerton.
Of all the people to mess with, he should not provoke the living nightmare.
But the person who used such a complicated poison on Isabella seemed to be quite knowledgeable about medicines.
Rare were such skilled people in Draxenport now.
I was not necessary to use this kind of poison on Isabella.
Isabella was just an ordinary person, clueless about anything. There were plenty of straightforward, convenient poisons available on the market.
Yet they chose the most cumbersome one.
Charles sized up Isabella and asked in confusion, “Who could be so heartless?”
“Her family,” Samuel said through clenched teeth, his murderous aura filling the hospital room.
“What!” Charles‘ face turned dark. “Even a tiger won’t eat its cubs. Is her family crazy? Oh, is it her stepmother?” he asked. Samuel’s face was dark and brooding, making Charles think he was right. Gritting his teeth, he said, “These days, mistresses act like this, trying to get rid of the legitimate children… Alas, poor Isabella, she’s really unlucky…”
He couldn’t help but sigh, but Samuel’s next words left him in utter disbelief. “Her father was involved too,” said Samuel.
“What a beast!” Charles clenched his fists. He had a liking for Isabella from the moment he met her. After discovering who she was, he considered her famil
His bro’s beloved woman was as good as his sister–in–law.
“What do you plan to do next?” Charles looked at Samuel but saw his eyes were cold and piercing, and he said, “What do you think?” Just three words.
Charles‘ body shivered involuntarily.
Mr. Howerton was out for blood
No one had ever made Mr. Howerton this angry before.
The Stout family… was in for a storm.

But he didn’t care. Anyone daring to bully the girl of Mr. Howerton deserved it.
After finishing everything. Charles finally exhaled and said, “Mr. Howerton, everything’s sorted now?
Samuel nodded. He was about to stand up, but Isabella tightly gripped his shirt.
He paused slightly, his gaze falling on Isabella’s hand that was holling his shirt.
Perhaps due to Samuel’s movements, Isabella’s brow furrowed anxiously, her eyelids quivering as if she might wake any
moment.
Samuel gently reached out and stroked her back in soothing circles.
Isabella’s tightly furrowed eyebrows finally relaxed, and she drifted back into a deep sleep.
Charles chuckled softly. “You should stay with her and make sure she gets some rest. I bet she was pretty shaken up.”
For a young girl to experience something like this, it must make her feel really unsafe.
Samuel nodded slightly without moving, and Charles left the hospital room, gently closing the door behind him.
Standing in the doorway, his typically relaxed expression now had a cold glint in his eyes.
He pulled a pair of scissors from his pocket, making several menacing snips in the air.
He hoped Hudson would one day seek him for treatment, and he planned to cut off that beast then.
In the eward. Samuel held Isabella and decided to get onto the bed to lie beside her.
Isabella’s sleep was restless and uneasy.
She kept dreaming of being chased, never stopping for a moment.
Just when her pursuer was about to grab her clothes, Isabella jolted awake, sitting up in bed.
She was breathing heavily, her heart racing intensely.
The images of Cameron flashed through Isabella’s mind and she panicked.
She wondered where she was.
She quickly got out of bed, and just as her feet touched the floor, the bathroom door swung open, revealing Samuel’s tall, graceful figure stepping out.
Isabella let out a deep sigh of relief.
Her anxious heart seemed to settle back into place.
Samuel’s gaze
ze fell on her bare feet on the floor, his brows furrowing as he quickly moved forward to scoop her up and lay her on the bed. “Why aren’t you wearing shoes?” he asked.
Though his tone was firm, it couldn’t conceal the concern within
At that moment, all of Isabella’s memories came rushing back…
She felt hesitant to look at Samuel: The events were clearly etched in her mind.
Isabella slightly curled her fingers and turned her head to softly reply. “I thought I wasn’t out of danger yet.

Samuel gently brushed off the dirt from her foot with a touch of tenderness.
This gesture made Isabella feel somewhat uncomfortable, making her want to pull her foot back.
But Samuel had already pulled the blanket over to cover Isabell
He looked up at Isabella and asked with some concern, “How are you feeling now?”
Although the red marks on her hands were still there, they weren’t as alarming as before.

Isabella felt her pulse and realized the residual poison had been cleared from her system. She turned to Samuel and replied. “I’m fine now. Today… thank you. I don’t know what would have happened without you….”
She could hardly bring herself to think about it.
Seeing the pain in his eyes, Samuel’s expression became even colder, but he still nodded gently. “That’s good.”
He sat to one side, poured a glass of warm water for Isabella, and handed it to her with a calm voice. “Go ahead, tell me.”
The investigation at Perry uncovered some information, and what happened with the Stout family was definitely no accident. Samuel wanted to know every detail and handle everyone involved.
A flash of cold light appeared in Isabella’s eyes, and anger surged uncontrollably in her heart.
She took the glass and held it tightly, her knuckles almost turning white from the pressure.
After a pause, she let out a bitter laugh and said, “It’s my fault for misjudging people.”
Samuel’s eyes narrowed slightly, and soon Isabella spilled everything. Throughout the entire process, she couldn’t stop shaking. A loud noise came through.
