Chapter 19
Darryl remained silent. He had been dealing with issues at the office today and hadn’t stayed at the villa to keep an eye on Xavier, and now this had happened.
He turned to look at Ingrid and asked in a low voice, “What have you been doing all day?”
Ingrid’s face turned pale, and she stammered nervously, “I… I wanted our son to recover faster, so I put some medicine in his food…
She looked up at Darryl, grabbing his shirt anxiously. “I didn’t know it would make things worse! I swear, if I had known, I never would’ve done it.”
Darryl felt his blood pressure spike, and he raised his hand, ready to slap Ingrid. But halfway through, he stopped, his hand trembling in the air before he clenched it into a fist.
He put down his hand heavily and let out a cold snort. “You….” He wanted to call her a useless fool who only made things worse, but he swallowed the words. If Isabella weren’t here, he might have slapped her.
Ingrid shrank back, her neck retreating as tears welled up in her eyes. Despite her fear that Darryl might hit her, she rushed forward, grabbing his arm and frantically asked, “Our son.. he will be fine, right?!”
If something truly happened to Xavier, she didn’t think she could go on living. Darryl shot her a fierce glare, but he didn’t answer, keeping his eyes fixed on the bed.
Ingrid, sensing his anger, didn’t dare say another word and could only stand by helplessly, watching in anxious silence.
Isabella, however, was too focused on Xavier to pay any attention to the drama around her.
Her movements quickened, and the number of needles she used steadily increased. Xavier’s flushed face gradually began to
return to a more normal color.
Letting out a deep breath, Isabella grabbed a tissue from the bedside table to wipe the sweat off her forehead before continuing her work with unwavering focus.
Xavier, who had been thrashing violently earlier, slowly started to calm down, the bulging veins on his body easing back.
After an hour, all of Xavier’s symptoms had disappeared, and Isabella finally began to remove the needles.
This episode had hit him hard, draining his energy rapidly. As Isabella removed the needles, Xavier remained in a deep sleep, completely exhausted.
He had already been tormented by this illness for so long, and just when he had started to recover, it had struck again. His sockets were sunken, and he looked even more haggard than before.
Once Isabella removed the last needle, she turned to Connor and instructed, “You can untie him now.”
Connor’s face lit up with relief. He quickly responded and immediately went to free Xavier from his restraints
Due to the violent struggle, Xavier’s wrists had been rubbed raw, bright red marks standing out against his skin, with blood. oozing from the abrasions. Isabella took care of the wounds before finally standing up
Darryl immediately stepped forward, his face full of concern, and asked anxiously, “Dr. Lovett, how is Xavier?”
Ingrid, nervously clutching her clothes, also looked at Isabella with worried eyes.

Pressing a hand to her throbbing forehead, Isabella rose and turned to Darryl, her expression serious as she warned, “The dose of medicine this time wasn’t too large. Uit had been any more, no one could have saved him.”
Her pointed gaze fell on Ingrid as she continued coldly, “If this happens again, you’ll need to find another doctor. In my care, strict adherence to my instructions is non–negotiable–any mistake can be fatal.”
habella wasn’t afraid of being questioned, but ignoring medical advice was akin to inviting disaster.
Ingrid, now fully aware of the gravity of the situation, was still haunted by the image of her son’s condition just moments ago. The memory sent a fresh wave of fear through her.
Taking a deep breath to suppress her anger, Isabella continued, “I will write down everything you need to pay attention to. You

must follow these instructions exactly.”
Her gaze landed on the notebook lying on the table. She grabbed a pen from the holder and quickly started writing
Ten minutes later, she handed Ingrid a sheet filled with detailed instructions. It was clear that this note was specifically intended for her.
Ingrid froze for a moment, clutching the paper in her hands. Only then did she realize how mean her carlier words had been.
If it had been any other doctor, they might have stormed off in anger. But Isabella, despite the harsh accusations, had continued treating Xavier without holding a grudge.
Looking at Isabella, Ingrid felt a pang of awkwardness and said hesitantly, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things earlier…”
Darryl glanced at Xavier, who was now sound asleep and showing no signs of distress. Finally, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He walked over to Isabella, offering her a grateful smile. “Dr. Lovett, we really owe you this time. We’ll be more careful in the future, and my wife was just acting out of desperation. Please, don’t hold it against her.”
Isabella checked on Xavier one last time, and seeing no further issues, she nodded slightly toward Darryl and replied, “Alright, I’ll be going now.”
She packed up her things and headed for the door. Time was of the essence, and she still needed to select a gift. The visit to the Howerton residence was fast approaching, and she had yet to prepare anything suitable.
Darryl and the others quickly followed her to the door.
Just as Isabella reached the exit, she paused and turned back to face them, her voice calm but firm. “Xavier still needs ongoing treatment before he can fully recover, so keep this to yourselves for now.”
Both Darryl and Ingrid immediately nodded in agreement. “You have our word. We won’t tell anyone.”
Is that so? Isabella thought, recalling the phone call she had received from Ivana earlier. She glanced at Darryl, a meaningful smile playing on her lips.
She added, “Some of the servants here have loose tongues. I’d recommend replacing them.”
Without waiting for a response, Isabella turned and left.
Darryl and Ingrid exchanged a heavy look, their faces growing dark with understanding. Darryl turned to Connor and ordered, “Connor, take care of it.”
As he stood by the door, surveying the chaos outside, Darryl narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing within them.
He didn’t expect that someone had the nerve to stir up trouble in his place. If that was the case, they had only themselves to blame for what was coming next.
The next day, the sun shone brightly in the sky, and the July heat was already beginning to settle in.
Isabella had been browsing in a mall for over an hour, still unable to find what she wanted, until an emerald bracelet caught
her eye.
She stared at the bracelet, thinking it looked quite nice. Slowly, she walked up to the counter and paused.
The sales assistant immediately approached her, smiling as she asked, “Hello! Is there a particular piece you’re interested in? Would you like to try something on?”
Habella pointed at the bracelet. “Can I take a look at this one?”
The sales assistant followed her gesture and her eyes brightened instantly. This bracelet wasn’t cheap, and if it sold, she would earn a substantial commission.
The assistant’s smile grew even wider. “Sure! Please hold on a moment.
As Isabella received the bracelet from the assistant, she turned it gently in her hands, inspecting the inner side of the bracelet
