Chapter 25
Congenital defects, meaning developmental problems. Isabella paused for a moment, then softly said, “It’s indeed difficult to
treat.”
The hope in Shawn’s eyes extinguished instantly. He slumped as if the life had been drained out of him. “Ah, I knew it. This must be heaven’s punishment for me!”
Seeing his reaction, Isabella frowned slightly and said gently. “It’s difficult, yes, but it’s not impossible to treat. Why are you giving up so easily?” He hadn’t even let her finish.
Suddenly, Shawn straightened his back, his eyes lighting up again. He looked at Isabella, clearly excited. Dr. Lovett, can it really be treated”
Isabella nodded, continuing. “The treatment process will be challenging, slow, and mentally and physically exhausting for him. You should ask him if he can endure the hardship and pain. If he can, I can cure him.”
Her tone was casual, but she spoke with certainty.
Shawn immediately stood up, rushing forward and grabbing Isabella’s arm in his excitement, his words tumbling out. “If you can cure him, I’ll agree to anything! I’d even give you my life!”
Over the years, Shawn had spent countless hours and efforts seeking treatment for his son, but nothing had worked. His son was his only child, and if his condition could be cured, then the Cooper name would live on.
Isabella winced, feeling pain from where Shawn was gripping her arm. George quickly stepped in, pulling the overly excited Shawn away. He chuckled, “Come on, we don’t need your life, Mr. Cooper. You’re overreacting, really”
Isabella sighed in relief as her wrist was finally freed. She wasn’t concerned with negotiations about payment; that was George’s domain.
Standing up, she looked at both George and Shawn, speaking softly, “You two go ahead and talk. I’m going to the restroom.” Another deal successfully closed. Looking at her own reflection in the mirror, Isabella saw her delicate features and smiled. However, just as she reached the door, she stopped in her tracks at the sight of a familiar figure.
The man was dressed in a black–and–white tracksuit, standing tall at about six–foot–three. Even with a mask covering his face, it didn’t hide his striking good looks.
After so many years of knowing him–and having stared at his photos every day in the past–Isabella recognized him instantly. It was Jayden.
Her good mood vanished in an instant.
She used to long to see him every day, but ever since she’d decided she never wanted to see him again, it felt like she ran into him constantly. She couldn’t tell if this was the fate trying to make amends or punishing her.
At the same time, Jayden spotted Isabella. Dressed casually, she still stood out. After not seeing her for a while, she seemed even more poised, with a hint of sensual charm that made it impossible to look away.
Isabella had grown even more beautiful, but Jayden couldn’t understand why she would be in a place like this. He suspected that she had somehow found out where he would be and followed him bere.
Jayden’s eyes filled with a mocking smile as he thought to himself, ‘Isabella keeps saying our relationship is over, but she’s just playing hard to get–Does she really think I can’t see through her little tricks?‘
Just as he was about to leave, Isabella moved faster than he expected, walking right past him toward the exit. She had no intention of speaking to him, not even glancing in his direction.
Jayden frowned, striding forward to block her path. Irritated, he asked, “Why did you follow me here? Don’t status doesn’t allow for this kind of behavior? You still don’t know how to act appropriately!”

mocking smile on her lips. “You’re full of yourself.”
Thinking back on it, Isabella realized his arrogance was partly her fault. She used to cling to him everywhere he went, desperately trying to keep him by her side, afraid he would leave her.
But in the end, she learned that some things couldn’t be held on to, no matter how tightly you gripped them.
Jayden was momentarily stunned. “Isabella, you-!” His gaze, filled with disappointment, remained on her. He had once believed she could change, but now he was seeing the same old patterns.

Just a few days ago, Ivana had called him, accusing Isabella of impersonating Queenie. At first, he didn’t believe it
But after digging into it, he found out that Xavier had indeed had an attack that very night, reverting to his bloodthirsty state, and now the Cox family was desperately seeking medical help.
He never imagined Isabella could do something so despicable.
What Jayden didn’t know was that the Cox family had kept their situation hidden to avoid being discovered by their enemies, and Isabella had wanted to avoid being tangled up with him. It had been a mutually beneficial arrangement, which led to the false rumors.
Jayden steadied his emotions, his cold eyes locking onto Isabella. “Since that’s how it is, we’ll never contact each other again.”
Isabella let out a cold laugh, turned on her heel, and walked away.
Jayden stood frozen, watching her retreating figure, his brow deeply furrowed. He had expected Isabella to be scared, but he hadn’t anticipated her being so indifferent toward him.
He clenched his fists, relaxed them, and then clenched them again even tighter.
But in the next moment, a hint of sarcasm flashed in his eyes. He was convinced this was just another one of her playing hard to get. In a few days, she’d come crawling back to him, like always.
Isabella was always like this.

When Isabella returned to the private room, George was enthusiastically chatting with Shawn, patting his shoulder. She raised an eyebrow slightly–seemed like the payment details were already sorted out.
She walked over slowly and sat down in her previous spot. Shawn immediately stood up and approached her, a tentative smile on his face as he asked. “Dr. Lovett, when do you think we can head over?”
He was rubbing his hands together nervously, clearly hoping that Isabella would head to his house right away.
Isabella picked up her coffee and took a sip. After putting the cup down, she calmly replied, “No rush.”
Shawn froze, his hands pausing mid–motion. His anxiety deepened–his son’s illness had tormented the whole family for far too long, and the strain on his son’s marriage was only getting worse. It was difficult for him to remain calm.
Isabella lifted her eyes, her gaze landing on Shawn, and gently reassured him, “Being anxious won’t help. I need time to prepare a few things.”
Shawn’s nerves finally eased a little. He glanced at Isabella and cautiously asked, “Then, Dr. Lovett, when do you think…? Before he could finish, Isabella interrupted, “Three days.”
She stood up, looked at Shawn again, and said, “George will be in touch with you. Be patient.”
Isabella understood Shawn’s urgency, but this was so that couldn’t be rushed. Things had to be planned out a

George stood up as well, walking over to Shawn and giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “Mr. Cooper, don’t worry. Stay calm. If Queenie says she can cure him, then she will!”
George’s confidence soothed Shawn’s anxiety a little. He nodded, bowing slightly toward Isabella with a sincere expression. “Thank you so much, Dr. Lovett

George tucked the cigarette Shawn had given him behind his ear and smiled at him. “No big deal.”
He waved casually to Shawn and headed toward the door, his eyes settling on Isabella. “Shall we?”
Isabella nodded slightly, and the two of them left the room. Behind them, Shawn hurried to catch up, calling out, “Dr. Lovett, take care!”
Several people in the hotel lobby turned to look, clearly curious about Isabella’s identity–after all. Shawn was treating her with an unusual level of respect.
