Chapter 39
Outside, the waiting crowd was growing impatient, but only George leaned against the corridor window with a calm expression. The longer it took, and the more silence there was, the more it reassured him that Isabella was safe.
He watched as Shawn and Cheryl paced nervously in front of him, their worry written all over their faces. He sighed. “Mr. Cooper, why don’t you take a seat for a moment? I estimate it’ll take a little longer.”
However, the Coopers couldn’t sit still, their anxiety bubbling over.
Inside the room, Jack was stuck in the same position he had been in while trying to hit Isabella. He was super itchy and really uncomfortable. Sweat was pouring down his forehead like crazy. This was worse than dying. He couldn’t take it anymore and blinked at Isabella, begging her for mercy,
Finally, after an hour and fifteen minutes, Isabella lifted her gaze to Jack and spoke softly, “Are you still planning to make a move against me?”
She pulled out another silver needle and twirled it between her fingers. The sunlight hit the needle, causing it to glint ominously,
Jack, enduring tremendous agony, looked at the needle with fear in his eyes. This woman is a demont Enduring this pain is worse than allowing her to treat me–at least I won’t be tormented like this, he thought as his eyes blinked rapidly in desperation.
Isabella nodded with satisfaction. “Alright, but let me make it clear: if there’s a next time, it’ll be three hours, then six… Ill double the time, she paused, a smirk growing on her face, because I have all the time in the world.”
Jack was horrified. If he had another chance, he would never provoke this wicked woman. She was simply terrifying,
Isabella pulled the needle out, and Jack finally felt a taste of freedom. He scrambled to scratch the itchy spots on his body until he felt some relief. However, he dared not fight back this time. The experience had been too painful.
Isabella looked pleased, saying, “Get up and follow me.”
The door that had been tightly sealed for nearly two hours finally opened. Shawn, seeing Isabella unharmed, breathed a long sigh of relief.
The couple rushed forward, worry etched on their faces. “How is he?” they asked.
“Don’t worry. He’s fine,” Isabella said gently, stepping aside to reveal a meek–looking Jack, who showed no trace of hostility on
his face.
George’s smile widened, realizing that Jack got his just desserts after all.
Just then, Isabella’s voice broke through, George, where’s the room you prepared earlier?”
George straightened up, wearing a grin on his face as he quickly led the way. “Right this way!”
Inside the sauna room, the temperature had been adjusted earlier, and in the corner was a pot of medicine simmering away.
As Isabella stepped inside, she turned to Jack and instructed, “Go in and strip down.”
Jack stiffened, disbelief flashing in his eyes as he stared at Isabella. “I won’t But the rest of his protest died on his lips when he spotted the needle in her hand. With no other choice, he swallowed hard and forced himself to comply,
George had originally intended to enjoy the funny scene, but when Isabella shot him a piercing glare, his smile instantly vanished. He absentmindedly rubbed his nose and turned to the Coopers. “Mr. and Mrs. Cooper, the treatment is officially starting, so you both need to… George gestured with his eyes for them to leave.
Shawn understood the rules laid out by Queenie. “Dr. Lovett, we’ll leave this to you. Just let us know if you need anything Even though the couple felt worried, they had no choice but to turn and walk away.
Once the door was closed, the treatment truly began. Isabella poured the medicine over the sauna stones, and steam instantly began to rise.

to look at Isabella.
When Isabella finished pouring the medicine and turned around, she saw him still standing there, brow furrowed in annoyance. “Aren’t you going to take off your shirt!” she snapped.
Jack fidgeted, his hands hovering over his shirt buttons for what felt like an eternity without unbuttoning.
Isabella picked up her silver needles, “You want to experience what you just went through again?”
As soon as those words left her mouth, Jack quickly started undressing. “Tm taking it off: just don’t do it again.” The thought of going through that discomfort again was more daunting than his embarrassment.
Initially, Jack felt extremely awkward, but Isabella didn’t bother to glance at him. It wasn’t until she stood at his back and started inserting needles into his nerves that he felt a sharp sting, causing his muscles to tense up immediately.
“Stay still and relax, Isabella’s calm voice drifted to his ears.
Feeling the silver needles pierce his skin, Jack realized that he could still move, and he finally let out a heavy sigh of relief, gradually easing his anxiety.
Isabella bit her lip, her hand steady as she quickly and accurately jabbed the needles into his nerves. In no time, he felt like a porcupine with needles sticking out all over his body.
Jack didn’t find it painful, but he was engulfed by the heat. Coupled with the blazing heat from the sauna, it felt like he was about to burst from the intensity of it all..
An entire hour passed. When Isabella finally stepped out of the room, her clothes were completely soaked, and she felt utterly drained.
George hurried over to support her, his face filled with concern. “Are you okay?”
Isabella waved her hand dismissively and settled onto a nearby bench. In a hoarse voice, she demanded, “Water”
The room was hot, and even she was struggling after that hour.
George quickly fetched her some water, and Isabella gulped it down, feeling rejuvenated for the first time.
Shawn and Cheryl rushed over, anxiety etched on their faces. “Dr. Lovett… Strangely, now that the treatment was done, they still didn’t dare to ask anything.
Isabella met their gaze and spoke calmly. “It’s nothing serious. He just needs a few more treatments.” Jack’s illness hadn’t developed overnight, and expecting a one–time fix was unrealistic.
Shawn and Cheryl let out a heavy sigh of relief, and Cheryl’s eyes brimmed with tears. She stepped forward and knelt before Isabella. “Thank you, Dr. Lovett. I will never forget your kindness.” Isabella was the savior of the Cooper family. Now they wouldn’t have to worry about being left without heirs.
Isabella instinctively moved to the side, not wanting Cheryl to kneel directly in front of her. “What are you doing? Please get up.” She quickly helped Cheryl to her feet. “Saving lives is a doctor’s duty. You don’t need to do this.”
“I know, but we still must express our gratitude. Without you, my son might never be cured. Cheryl’s voice was filled with emotion.
Isabella simply smiled and glanced toward the room. “He’ll be out in three minutes. Why don’t you check on him?” Cheryl’s face lit up as she looked at Shawn, who nodded in understanding. “I’ll go, he said, though his eyes were already glistening with tears.
Half an hour later, Isabella took a quick shower and changed into clean clothes, finally feeling like herself again.
As she made her way downstairs to the living room, she spotted Shawn approaching her with a broad smile. “Dr. Lovett, it’s time to eat. Dinner is ready.”
Isabella glanced out at the darkening sky. She had intended to decline, but just as the words formed on her lips, she noticed a woman walking through the gate of the Cooper family’s villa.
