She had it all figured out. If she couldn’t make Kieran back out of the engagement himself, she’d have to work on Eloise, who was close
to him.
Once she canceled the engagement, Kieran and Eloise could fall madly in love for all she cared–it wouldn’t affect her one bit. Preston showing interest in Eloise was sure to trigger Kieran’s sense of crisis, just like in a past life.
And so, their love and hate saga would begin, leaving Freya free as a bird, no longer an enemy to Preston and his ilk. Thinking of this, Freya felt she was playing her cards right.
Ne next day, at Echo City University, a few rich kids hanging with Leland were smoking in a corner of the campus.
“Leland, is this Freya that much of a handful?”
Leland said with disdain, “If it weren’t for Freya, the Dawson Group would’ve been mine by now! Would I be struggling like this?” One rich kid suggested, “Why don’t you find a way to force her to hand over the Dawson Group and her inheritance?”
Another rich kid interrupted, “Easier said than done. With such a fortune, you think she’d let go?”
“Women, just scare them a bit, right? I don’t believe she’d cling to her money when her life’s at stake.”
Leland hesitated for a moment after hearing this. Right, Freya was a woman, after all. How bold could she be? They might get the Dawson Group and the family fortune if they scared her a bit.
“Leland, leave it to me. I’ve got plenty of experience dealing with women!”
“Yeah, Leland, let’s team up for this. If things go south, my dad can bail us out. It’s just a robbery, nothing too serious. I bet if we leak a video of Freya’s kidnap, she wouldn’t dare go public. Besides, she will marry off someday. With the Sutton family backing her, why cling to the Dawson family? Greed can choke you.”
Hearing his friends plotting for him made Leland take a final puff of his cigarette, saying, “Fine, we move tonight. I’ll treat you all to a night out if we make it. My treat.”
“Leland’s the man!”
Leland had long been irked by Freya’s lofty status. Bringing Freya down a peg or two would be satisfying for him.
That afternoon, Freya arranged for Preston and Eloise to meet at a romantically themed restaurant.
They arrived at the restaurant as five o’clock approached, nearing dinner time. How could they not order something? Freya had booked a candlelit dinner for them, setting the stage for Preston to take an interest in Eloise.
In no time, Preston and Eloise arrived one after the other.
Preston hadn’t been waiting long when he checked his watch just as Eloise walked in.
Preston frowned upon seeing Eloise arrive alone, “Why are you alone?”
Initially intending to greet Preston, Eloise was at a loss for words at his question.
Eloise asked, “Mr. Tyler… were you expecting Ms. Dawson?”
Preferring to keep his personal affairs private, Preston replied coldly, “Ms. Harwood, please take a seat.”
Upon hearing this, Eloise sat across from Preston.
Meanwhile, lurking in a restaurant corner with a walkie–talkie, Freya began signaling the waiter.
