Freya asked, “Mr. Sutton, are you trying to crack a dad joke here?”
Since when did she need a guy with a finicky stomach to teach her how to eat?
“You can eat less in the evening but can’t skip dinner. It’s easy to fall into irregular habits by eating only twice a day. From now on, you’re joining me when I have dinner.”
“Kieran, I’m not used to having dinner. You’re putting me on the spot here.”
“Eat dinner regularly daily, and I’ll give you a million dollars.”
Freya wondered if she’d heard him wrong. A cool million just for a dinner date? Had Kieran seriously lost it?
Noticing Freya’s skeptical look, Kieran frowned and asked, “Not enough?”
How about… two million? Freya tentatively haggled.
When she looked up and saw Kieran’s expression, she knew she had overstepped.
‘Fine, one million it is”
“Miss a dinner, and it’s a deduction of two million. If you stick to the plan for a month, you’ll easily make thirty million.” Saying this, Kieran started on his food.

Hearing this, Freya put down her fork with a dark expression, saying, “So, all those times you said you wanted specific dishes, you were messing with me?”

But soon, he recalled those times he had been overly critical to discourage Freya, asking for boneless fish, stewed meat that was neither too soft nor too hard, and even demanding garnishes on dishes, refusing to eat if the presentation wasn’t appealing.

Kieran replied with a poker face, “Today, I’m barely managing. If you were to cook in the future…”
“In your dreams!” Freya quickly shot down Kieran’s suggestion, continuing to eat and saying, “You can forget about eating my cooking for the rest of your life.”
She had put in so much effort for Kieran, leaming all sorts of techniques, even cutting her fingers a bunch of times. And it turned out Kieran was just messing with her! With that thought, Freya’s resentment toward Kieran got even stronger.
After a few bites, Freya put down her fork, saying, “I’m full.”
Seeing Freya about to leave, Kieran knew she was upset. He remarked, “No pay for an unfinished meal.”
That comment stopped Freya for a second.
She turned, eyeing Kieran not too far away, and said, “Mr. Sutton himself said, ‘Eat less for dinner.‘ I’m following your advice. As the CEO of the Sutton Group, you can’t go back on your word.”
Finishing her point, Freya took out her phone, shook it, and added, “I’ve got a recording. Here’s the evidence.”
“Recording?” Kieran couldn’t help but laugh at Freya’s antics.
It was just a million dollars. And Freya felt it was worth recording. Watching Freya head upstairs, Kieran’s smile didn’t fade. Realizing this, he quickly composed himself. ‘Wait. Why am I smiling?‘
Later in the evening, back in his room, Kieran could still hear the hammering and drilling of renovation work next door. Even with earplugs, it was no use.
