But then, the guy suddenly grabbed Freya’s arm.
Turning her head, Freya saw a man in sunglasses. The moment he saw her face, he seemed shocked for a second and involuntarily let go of her arm.
Freya didn’t think much of it, though. Despite the sunglasses, she was immediately struck by his charm. Describing him as a dashing heartbreaker wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
But to Freya, all that charm was nothing compared to a single word from Ronan.
At that moment, Caleb took off his sunglasses. His phone buzzed again with a call from Eloise.
“Have you arrived?”
m outside the main building.” Caleb responded to Eloise.
Soon, Eloise emerged from the main building.
“Was that Freya just now?”
Coming from similar social circles, their families, the Whites and the Dawsons, knew each other well, and the two had even played together as children. However, ever since Caleb rose to fame as a child star, he hadn’t seen Freya. He figured she probably didn’t remember him,
“That was her.”
Eloise’s tone soured a bit as she mentioned Freya. “She’s been making a fool out of me, Caleb. You’ve always had my back since we were kids. I wouldn’t have asked you to come back if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.”
“You had a fight with Kieran?”
Caleb could sense Eloise’s distress over the phone.
As kids, Eloise was often the one who got picked on, especially after her family faced some troubles, making other kids reluctant to play with her.
Caleb always stood up for her.
Eloise tugged at Caleb’s sleeve. “It’s because of Freya. She’s always been against me. Caleb, I need your help. You’re all I’ve got now.”
Hearing this, Caleb was silent for a moment.

Freya made it to the sixth floor, wondering why a top lecturer’s office was so far up. Was it just to make sure the school’s elevators got some use?
Suddenly, Freya stopped in her tracks.
The image of the man in white flashed through her mind.
Wait! Wasn’t that Caleb? She immediately regretted not going back to check if she had seen correctly.
But upstairs, Ronan said, “You’re too slow.”
Having reached the fifth–floor stairwell, Ronan saw Freya contemplating turning back. Pushing up his glasses, he said, “Come up, I’ve got questions for you.”
With Ronan coming down to her, Freya had no choice but to follow him up.
Yet, Caleb’s image kept flashing through her mind.
In her past life, Caleb was the devoted ‘third wheel‘ in Eloise’s life, known throughout their circle. Everyone talked about Kieran and Preston Tyler’s lavish attempts to win Eloise, but few knew about Caleb’s silent, steadfast love.
