Kieran shot Freya a frosty glance. He did know the gears turning in Freya’s mind- she was looking for an excuse to distance herself from him! Well, he wasn’t about to make things easy for her.
“Kieran, Ms. Dawson has made herself clear. Let’s not push her further,” Audrey stated coldly, seizing the moment to sever ties between Freya and Kieran. “Ms. Dawson is focused on her studies, right? Let’s rent her an apartment near Summit University so she can recuperate close to campus.”
“Grandma, she…”
“Enough! We’ll handle it this way.”
As the matriarch of the Sutton family, Audrey had the final say. She quickly turned to Nancy. “Nancy, pack up what Ms. Dawson needs.”
“Yes, ma’am…” Nancy glanced at Kieran, troubled.
randma, it’s late, and Ms. Dawson is injured. It’s not wise for her to move now. I’ll have Jarrett find a place first thing tomorrow, and then we can help Ms. Dawson move,” Kieran interjected, his voice cold.
Audrey had initially wanted to boot Freya out ASAP, but given her injuries, it’d look bad to make her leave. So she grudgingly gave in. “Ms. Dawson, come here. I need to speak with you.” Audrey said it and walked to a sofa on the far side of the room.
Struggling without her crutches, Freya found it hard to move.
But Audrey had deliberately chosen the farthest sofa.
Nancy was packing, and Freya couldn’t seek Kieran’s help, so Freya had no choice but to limp toward Audrey, enduring the pain with every step.
Noticing her struggle, Kieran quickly stepped forward to support her.
Freya frowned instinctively, wanting to shrug off Kieran’s hand, but he didn’t give her the chance.
Audrey watched this unfold, biting back her displeasure for the moment.
When Freya reached Audrey, Kieran pushed a chair toward her, saying, “Sit.”
Freya wanted to sit but hesitated after seeing Audrey’s expression as she sipped her coffee. Offending Audrey seemed far worse than offending Kieran.
Seeing Freya’s hesitation, Kieran pressed her down into the chair a bit roughly, causing Freya to wince in pain.
Audrey frowned, setting down her coffee cup. “Ms. Dawson, I’ve found a suitable fiancée for Kieran. It’s inconvenient for you to remain here, so I hope you understand.”
Hearing Audrey talk about selecting a fiancée, Kieran’s expression darkened. “Grandma, I have no plans of getting married yet.”
“That’s not for you to decide.” Audrey’s response was indifferent. “I’ve spoken with Ms. Miller. The Miller family might not be noble, but they are respectable. Ms. Miller is dignified and gentle. Most importantly, she has a good temperament. I’ll arrange for you to meet her tomorrow. Be prepared.”
Freya wasn’t surprised to hear that. Everyone knew Ms. Miller of the Miller family was raised as the epitome of a lady.
