“It’s nothing, just some playful teasing among classmates.” Freya couldn’t wait to get away from Caleb.
Caleb blocked her path again as she was about to leave and said, “Do you not recognize me? Don’t you remember me at all?”
Looking into Caleb’s earnest eyes, Freya quickly shook her head. “Sorry, I don’t know you.”
Hearing that, Caleb swiftly took off his face mask, revealing a face that seemed more suited to the big screen than real life.
As a highly popular actor abroad, Caleb’s face was memorable. But this Caleb was no different from the one Freya remembered from her past life, so there was no surprise on her face.
“In Caleb. Freya, do you seriously not remember me?” he said, his tone laced with a teasing note.
Freya said, “You’re telling me you’re that famous star, Caleb? Come on, stop joking.”
Freya acted as if she had never seen Caleb before and turned to walk away.
But Caleb followed close, saying, “We met as kids. You stood up for me when I got bullied. Do you not remember me?”
As Caleb talked, Freya rolled her eyes, thinking actors really knew how to spin tales just to get close to someone. How was it possible she couldn’t recall any childhood moments with Caleb?
An actor through and through, making up stories seemed second nature. Caleb could tell lies as effortlessly as breathing.
If not for knowing the relationship between Caleb and Eloise, she might have taken a moment to wonder if she did know Caleb in her childhood.
“Sorry, but please stop teasing me,” Freya said earnestly.
But with an injury on her leg, she was slow, no match for Caleb’s long strides.
Eventually, Caleb blocked her path again.
Freya said somewhat helplessly, “Is this the new way of hitting on a girl? I know I look good, but could you show some manners and not chase after me like this?”
Freya blushed a little as she said this. After all, if it were about looks, Caleb’s face was leagues beyond her own.
Sure enough, her words stunned Caleb. He probably never expected to be seen as some street harasser. When he gathered his thoughts Freya was already walking toward the school gate.
Soon, Eloise, looking around near the school building, asked Caleb when he returned, “Where were you just now? Weren’t you waiting for me here?”
“I just saw Freya.”
Bringing up Freya put Eloise in a bad mood. If it weren’t for Freya, she wouldn’t have faced that humiliating incident outside the principal’s office.
“And then?” asked Eloise.
“Someone had stuck a note on her back. Ellie, don’t tell me you did it.”
