The students around were increasingly siding with Freya.
Freya looked at Eloise and said, “Ms. Harwood, if you keep blocking me, things might get even messier. I’d advise you to step aside.” Eloise glared at the USB drive in Freya’s hand, lowering her voice to a whisper only they could hear. “Don’t think you can ruin me, Freya. Kieran won’t let you get away with this!”
“Oh really? But the evidence is right here. I’m curious to see how Kieran can protect you now.”
Freya walked past Eloise, her expression unchanging.
Eloise wanted to call out to Freya but was mindful of the onlookers and their judgment.
The buzz of Summit University, especially within the highly sought–after Finance department, meant that news of the incident spread like wildfire.
By the time Freya reached the principal’s office door….
The principal, watching the surveillance footage on his computer, looked troubled.
The footage clearly showed Eloise and two student council members entering the exam supervisor’s office.
They unlocked the door, and then, all the hallway lights went off.
Someone had obviously tampered with the main switch, cutting off the power to the entire floor.
The group emerged about twenty minutes later, and what they did inside during that time remained a mystery.
“What should we do about this, Principal?”
The principal, troubled by Freya’s presence, replied, “Well… this only proves that Eloise and some student council members entered the office. It doesn’t necessarily mean they tampered with the exam papers. And… it’s also possible the exam supervisor asked them to grade papers. But don’t worry, Ms. Dawson, we will investigate thoroughly!”
“Grade papers? Principal, we’re talking about the final exams here. Do you even believe what you’re saying?”
Freya had anticipated his response.
After all, with Kieran backing Eloise, the principal wouldn’t dare accuse her without solid evidence.
“Ms. Dawson, this matter requires further investigation… and we lack concrete evidence,” the principal said, his words coated in diplomacy.
He had no desire to accuse Eloise, knowing the uproar it would cause wouldn’t benefit him either.
Hearing this, Freya smiled slightly, “Principal, I understand your concerns, but who says I don’t have solid evidence?”
The principal was taken aback at her statement.
More evidence? How could that be?
“Shielding Eloise could have serious implications, Principal. Imagine if the school defends her innocence, but I then reveal evidence of her cheating. That would spell trouble for you too,” Freya said, her words laced with veiled threats.
The principal grew visibly uneasy. “Ms. Dawson, this evidence you speak of… what is it?”
Just then, a knock echoed at the door.
Before the principal could respond, the door swung open.
Standing at the doorway were inspectors from the Department of Education, causing the principal to jump to his feet in surprise. “Department of Education?”
