Chapter 5
Five minutes later, the phones in the pockets of the medics treating me started buzzing like crazy
One of the orderlies stopped what he was doing, polled out his phone, and glanced at the notifi
His face went pale.
Forget the task at hand–he opened the video immediately.
The audio hit hard, raw and brutal:
A girl’s voice, screaming in agony.
“It hurts! Oh my God, it hurts so much! Why are you doing this to me?”
“What did I do to deserve this?”
“I don’t know anything about what my parents did! Please…. please stop hurting me…”
Her cries grew more and more desperate until finally, she begged, her voice hoarse and broken:
“Just kill me. Please. I can’t take this anymore.”
“I’ve lost all my fingers… there’s no point in living like this…. just let me die…”
One of the nurses tending to me snapped.
“Turn it off! That’s enough!” she yelled, her voice trembling.
“Hasn’t this kid suffered enough? You’re just twisting the knife at this point!”
The orderly shook his head, his hands trembling as he looked up.
“No… it’s not her.”
“What do you mean it’s not her?”
“That girl in the video… it’s someone else.”
“Then who is it?”
“I don’t know…” He swallowed hard, his voice shaky.
“But… the guy torturing her? I think it’s Captain Quinn.”
Everyone froze.
Then, the voice from the video cut through the room again.

The girl, choking on sobs but defiant, duned
“Just because I’m a criminal’s daughter, that makes me guilty to?
“The low don’t punish people for their family!
“You’re supposed to stand for justice! You’re a cop! But all you do is fully people weaker than you.”
“You’re a monster”
“You think torturing me is going to help you catch my parents?”
“Think again. I’ll make sure everyone knows what you did.”
“I’ll tell them everything, and the law will punish you!”
A low, menacing laugh followed–my father’s laugh.
“You really think I’ll give you the chance to speak?” he sneered.
“Once your parents are caught, you’ll be dead. Dead girls don’t get to tell their side of the story.”
His voice grew colder, dripping with disdain.
“You’re the daughter of a drug dealer, talking to me about the law?”
“This world was never fair to begin with. And a drug dealer’s kid? No one gives a damn about your life.”
And just like that, everything fell into place.
To him, I was just another worthless, unwanted child.
A girl kidnapped as a baby and dumped in the countryside.
Why would someone like me matter to him?
The room was silent.
Everyone was too stunned to speak.
Finally, one of the nurses broke the silence, pulling out her phone.
“This video is blowing up online. It’s all over the news!”
She wiped at her eyes, her voice shaking with rage.
“Apparently… Captain Quinn tortured and killed a little girl years ago while trying to catch a drug lord.”
“That’s why they kidnapped his daughter this time…”
Her tearful gaze fell on me.

Chapter 5
“This poor girl… she’s paying the price for someone else’s sins.”
“Why is Captain Quinn’s family out there laughing and celebrating while she’s lying here like this?”
Another nurse chimed in, her voice bitter.
“What kind of parents would do this to their own child?”
