I can’t stand them even for a second. How dare she come up and introduce herself as if nothing happened. She is plotting how to kill me every day behind my back and still fucking acts like she is my real mother.

“W–Where are we going?” The soft voice as if carried by wind snapped me out of my fury and I looked beside me.
Liliana Robinson Edwards, my wife and second–chance mate. Not that, I believe in the latter. She is a weak woman with no strength/Her life will end in a few scratches and gasps if I twist her pale white swan–like neck.
However, that is not all.
She is feisty and smart. She isn’t annoying like those females who yap a lot and are just looking for one night to warm their beds. She has the dignity of a princess and an allure of a queen

“Where else? To our mansion” I answered, pulling her close and she trembled. Her amber eyes were wide as they peered at me and her heartbeat was awfully loud.
Our chests collided and her breathing quickened. I stared down her, unmoving because there was something about the melted gold trapped in her eyes.
It was beautiful and as I gazed at her face, my eyes halted on her cheeks which had become a faint shade of red.
Adorable.
I smirked and wrapped my arm around her waist, watching her more closely. She has now stopped breathing altogether. She fidgeted in my arms, trying to move which only led me to tighten my hold around her.
Why was she trying to move in the first place?

Suddenly, a rotten smell assaulted my nose and I realized it was the scent of fear. My wife was scared. I cursed inwardly and

“We will be leaving for our mansion and there we will have our first night,” I told her as I turned around, about to mind–link

Oliver when I felt a feeble tug on my coat’s sleeve.
The fabric rustled against my flesh, tickling me a little and I stopped.
“F–First night?” Her face was a bright colour of red when I turned around as she asked about the night of copulation stupidly. She knows we are married, doesn’t she?
Suddenly, I had an urge to bite them, those plump red cheeks.
What would she do if I did that? Yelp, hiss or moan? The thought sent a wave of exhilaration down my spine and I was about to smile when suddenly, the rotten scent from earlier stopped me.
Fear.
Would I want her to be scared? The scent of fear is something I witness in my everyday life and sometimes it gives me joy and sometimes it makes me annoyed.
However, when I smelled the same scent on her, it felt revolting
I watched her again, putting my thoughts to rest and she was still blushing, putting those ripe red checks on display.
“Weren’t you the one who asked me to protect, cherish and love you?” I raised one of my eyebrows when she blinked as if there was an error in her system and she was unable to process what I said just now.
“Mates are supposed to love, cherish and protect their fated partners, don’t they, my Luna?” I repeated her words slowly and her mouth slightly parted. She couldn’t say anything and I smirked before turning around.
I was teasing her and I didn’t have such plans before I saw her wear my favourite colour so beautifully. After all, red suits a crazy warmonger like me the best, right?
But now, it’s just as I said. We are leaving for the mansion to celebrate our first night.
I held her hand and walked through the passageway leading to the west door. This much is fine, I believe. She didn’t freeze up like before when I held her hand.
This mansion was specifically built for events, balls and occasions where pack people would gather together and celebrate.
It has four doors and it often hosts pack annual meals together. It’s something I have started to deepen the bond with my people since I am still in a precarious position because of my damned stepmother despite being an alpha.
There is hardly anyone I can trust because of her influence. There are only five people who are my own along with my special battalion which is under my control and not Adrian’s..
This time he had mixed his people with mine forcefully since he is the commander resulting in the car ambush, Hudson, Oliver and my other three men are my five main generals.
Besides my battalion which accompanies me to war every time. I also have a special unit of shadow warriors which is unknown to everyone except Hudson.
Trusting someone is a myth according to me considering the sea of enemies I live in. As for her, my second–chance mate…nothing can be said for now. I will keep watching her.
She has just arrived and there’s no need to rush.

didn’t call anyone to drive us to the mansion because I had other work for them.
“Oliver, I am leaving for the mansion with Liliana. I need you to keep an eye on the ball along with Hudson. Stay till the end. and submit a report to me tomorrow.
“Yes, Alpha!’ I disconnected with him after I received his answer
I started the engine and began driving. My mansion wasn’t far away from here and we would reach it in no time but her restlessness was getting to me.
“Will you stop being so anxious? I am not kidnapping you from the ball, Liliana. We are just going to our house”
She flinched when I called out to her before reconnecting to the world back from her own little world, she zoned out to.
“Y–Yes, I am aware.” 1 glanced at her and she looked nervous like new recruits who were getting dispatched for their first war.
“Stay away from the three people you saw before, the great Lung her son and his wife. None of them is good news” I spoke, feeling my anger rising as soon as I mentioned them.
I saw her nod as I pulled the car into the driveway. We got out of the car and I gave the keys to the guard stationed on the door to park the car. As soon as we entered the mansion, Anna and Julia came to receive Liliana.
I think she has warmed up to them. I have few house servants in my mansion. Two maids, three chefs, butler who is out on an errand along with plenty of guards.

“We will be having our first night together. Prepare the room ordered them, removing my robe, and handing it over to one of the guards who also stay on duty inside the mansion at night.
“Right away Alpha!” Julia answered excitedly before disappearing to the stairs.
I looked at my uneasy wife after I had handed the robe to Jack, the guard and asked for her hand.
“Shall we?” I asked and she hesitantly slipped her hand into mine They had already prepared the room with lit candles, rose decorations on the bed and a sweet fragrance till we reached as if they had prepared it beforehand.
“Then, we will assist Luna with her bath and bring her to the room after she is done” Anna said and I raised my hand in the
air.
“No need, you shall leave,” I ordered the maids and felt her flinch
Where did the feisty Liliana go? I suppressed a chuckle and waited for the doors to close.
“Thud”
My senses heightened as soon as we were left alone in the room. Our proximity was exciting my wolf, Levi. He howled in my head, enticing me to take her right away and sink my fangs in her pretty pale neck but would I be a man if driven by my instincts so easily?

“Let’s take a bath,” I said, nonchalantly leaving her hand as I removed my coat.
“B–Bath?” She stuttered and I turned around with a few of my buttons unbuttoned, nodding.
“Even if you smell like honey and vanilla, you still need to bathe, don’t you? Though I don’t have any problem in directly taking you to the bed as well. It’s your choice, Liliana” I teased her and she immediately turned red.
It’s fun.
She is so responsive that it itches me to talk and get those different reactions out of her.
Oh, will you look at that, she is fumbling but keeps looking at my chest and now we are going inside the bathroom. I have spent some time designing the bathroom since it’s a place I spend most of my time besides my study in the mansion.
Because I often have to wash the stench of blood staining my body.
At its heart lay an elegant, rectangular bathtub, seamlessly integrated into the tiled floor. Behind it, a waterfall cascades down a textured stone wall surrounded by lush greenery and delicate fake white flowers.
The waterfall cascades into multiple smaller streams flowing gracefully along the wall, producing a gentle and soothing symphony which helps me relax.
Candles illuminate the room which is Julia’s and Anna’s work as warm glow dances along the walls creating a perfect atmosphere for a bath.
1 stripped down and the pleasing tranquility of the room was disturbed by someone’s scream.
Oh, it’s my wife screaming.
