I calculate the time it will take me to run through those vines hanging off the pine trees and the time those wolves will take
to reach me.
I stare at them gauging out their next move when one of them suddenly grips the soil in his paws as if he is about to take a kickstart and run swiftly towards me.
I kick the soil behind me as I propel myself in the direction of the hanging vines and soon I hear dozens of paws thudding behind me as I run for the mansion.
It was far away but I memorised the route on my way here. I can trick them with the terrain if I am quick enough.
The footsteps were getting closer as if they would be running alongside me any minute, given our run together wouldn’t be one of friendship.
I took a sharp turn to my right and ran deeper into the thicket of trees. I didn’t come from this way but I wandered here. The trees will only grow close as we keep running inside until they are huddling as if growing from one seed.
I can trick them by going zigzag through these trees before speeding along the muddy path which leads to the stream situated on the main broad path of stones and mud, leading straight to the mansion.
The path after crossing the stream is long but simple. There won’t be any way to trick them and thus, I wish to have them stuck here so they wouldn’t be able to come after me vigorously like how they are doing right now.
Another turn and I hear them growling behind me.
They are frustrated. They ought to be after all the space to run past these trees feels as if it’s custom–made for a wolf of my build.
quickly skip the trees, circling them and squeezing through the gaps, rejoicing from inside after hearing the sound of footsteps torturing the ground become faint.
Did I finally leave them behind? The moment I wondered such a relief–providing question, a wolf pounced on me from the left, toppling me on the ground with its fangs aimed at me.
I quickly kicked him in the belly and rolled over, getting up immediately and making a run for the path which leads to the
stream.
Dammit, how did I not notice this short wolf among those six beasts!?
I need to quickly reach the broader path. Anyone will be able to hear me after I run on the path across the stream because I will be closer to the mansion that way.
I ran past the huddled Pine trees and almost galloped like a horse when the stream came into my view.
I need to quickly dodge them!
I grunted when I pushed myself even harder to get past the stream and those gigantic wolves tailing me got faster as if they were trying to compete with me.
I didn’t slow down when my eyes landed on the rippling stream and leapt in the air, in the hopes of crossing the stream in

one jump.
However, the moment my paws landed on the other side, the same wolf with a musty brown mane was prowling just a few steps ahead of me.
I was surprised to see him there and he smirked as if he could sense my surprise.
How did he jump before me when I was running ahead of them? And right now, it doesn’t look like he will go down withou a fight.
I took a fighting stance and dragged one of my paws behind, ready for his attack and in just a blink of an eye, he was runnir towards me, baring his fangs.
I quickly dodged him and slashed his hind leg before we faced each other from opposite directions. He was now standing with his back to the stream and I stood with my back facing my destination, the mansion.
And while I was considering taking a quick turn and running towards the mansion, two more wolves jumped across the stream, growling at me.
‘grrr‘
Their saliva trickled down their jaws and they gave me a menacing look eyeing me as their prey. The musty brown mane was also able to recover quickly and now there were three predator–like wolves in front of me.
This was bad. I can only take two of them down by myself with no life–threatening wounds. I gritted my teeth in anguish and quickly turned around running as fast as I could.
However, this time, I couldn’t maintain the distance I had before. One of them had caught up to me and was now running alongside me.
1 eyed him from my side and he didn’t appear to have good intentions as he in the blink of an eye bit my shoulder and sank his fangs into my flesh. I howled in pain and fell, stopping abruptly and receiving scratches, whimpering in pain.
I couldn’t get up immediately and the blood oozed from the patch of flesh he had engraved his bite mark in.
I was angry and filled with the feeling of avenging myself when I saw him running towards me. I jumped in the air and clawed at his face sending him back whimpering.
I growled, baring my fangs as I ran towards him and slashed his belly without giving him a chance to recover.
I was satisfied to see him wail and lick his wounds after being attacked by me and when I was about to chomp off his neck, the other five wolves stepped out of the bushes, surrounding us.
This is going to be tough now.
My hackles rose and I leaned on Sylvia for strength. There was no way I could take all of them down. Even if, one of them is injured right now, there were still five of them, huge and rippling with an oozing bloodlust.
They grew ferocious after roaming their gaze on the wounded wolf lying at my feet.
What? Are they angry for their friend now? Shouldn’t they first have the basic decency to not gang up on a single female wolf?
I licked my lips, having a good look at my available options in this situation. The mansion was still bloody far away but if…if they would have found out by now that I was missing and informed Damien…then,
