I stood up and followed her outside. Once she was out of the door, with her maids trailing behind her, she stomped, but no matter how fast she believed she was walking, I caught up to her in two big strides.
“Liliana” I called her name and she stopped, glaring at me as she did so.
“Yes? How may I help you, Alpha?” She said in an overly sweet voice and crossed her arms.
I like her ire, but I do not understand why because it got on my nerves for most of the part last time. There is strangely something very beautiful about this side of her rather than the meek and scared side I saw when I first met her.
It is still there but now, she also expresses herself in ways I like her to see, the feisty side, the anger, the stubbornness…everything even if it gets a little bothersome in the end.
It’s still better than the rotten smell of fear always around me, the one I indulge in and yet when it comes to her, I feel I can do better with one less scent of fear around me.
That’s why I want her to keep acting like that, full of reactions, full of life.
“How is your shoulder? I didn’t get to ask earlier”
“As you can see, it’s all patched up with a bandage thanks to Doctor Richards”
I felt my muscles tense up and my hands fisted when she took the doctor’s name again. It felt unpleasant and ticked a nerve just like before.
“Yes, thanks to him, he cures everything, whether it is due to one’s own mistake or some other reason. I knew I was being petty and…not nice but did she have to say it was because of Doctor Greens when it’s an obvious thing?
“Did you forget that for having a pup, one of our most important duties, a harmonious relationship is compulsory between parents?” She said with controlled anger, barely unleashing it but still making the meaning behind her words clear.
“I remember.”
“Yet you are not acting upon it” She mumbled under her breath and turned away. Seeing, this, I caught her wrist and pulled her close to my chest.
“I will. I am. As you said, having a pup is one of our important duties. Julia, take her back to the mansion safely and take care of her wound diligently.” I said without taking my eyes off her until her tall and lean frame disappeared into the elevator.
I glanced at the red bruise on my arm which was slowly turning purple and a laugh bubbled out of my chest. The area where she pinched was finally tingling a little.
How can I forget? She is a wolf who knows how to bite. I watch the bruise for one more minute before walking back inside the doctor’s clinic. I came here to check on the progress of the work I had given to him and met Liliana by pure coincidence.
I thought she had her appointment with Richard yesterday but it happened to be today.

been found in the backyard, I knew she had gone into the woods behind the mansion and I felt my blood become cold.
It froze, I froze and my heartbeat…it started booming in my chest like thunder. I experienced the fear I thought I would never feel again after my mom died and I went through my first assassination attempt when I was still a 9–year–old boy.

It was there again, chaining my body like a vile serpent with its fang sunk in my heart. I was running through the office with only one thing in my head, ‘Liliana.
Hudson caught me outside the building, ready with the car and I quickly took a seat. He sped up to the mansion and I quickly fired questions to Adolf before shifting into my wolf without waiting for his answers.
Because I knew if she was alone in the woods, she would be in danger. Great Luna had planted her eyes everywhere and our mansion was just one of her favourite places to spy on.
She would never miss such an opportunity to harm Liliana who has become her new and hot target. I picked up her scent on my way inside the woods and quickly found her surrounded by six fucking giant wolves.
She will always be cheap, that old hag.
I only realized that I was worried when I saw her alive with her limbs still attached to her body. I was so relieved that I ended up lashing out at her, listing her mistakes when all I wanted to was hold her close and kiss those lips.
However, I was angry as well. I still am. How could she leave without telling anyone? Even after I had warned her about both the woods and the impending dangers.
That was so careless of her that for one second, I wanted to punish her in those wood right away, against the fucking Pine tree she was oozing off. Her mouth wasn’t helping at all as well.
She kept riling me up and testing my limits by bringing our previous argument in between and then making me the reason behind her running off into the woods.
Slave management…how ridiculous! Those slaves are a sign of my victory, my fear and my strength. They keep the rumours about my formidable presence as the Alpha of the South strong.
Father used to say that slaves are a badge of honour, a badge of victory, which you needn’t polish and just show to other’s faces. Seeing, how our pack still runs on the old tradition of the strongest can be the alpha whether he is the son of the king or not, me having that badge of victory on my chest is the right thing.
Now, they are going to win me Elder Owen. Liliana doesn’t know everything. She doesn’t know that I can’t fucking kill that old hag and end this fucking problem forever.
It’s not possible and that’s why I was coming to check the progress of the work I gave Richard. That’s when I heard her giggling and chatting cheerily to the white coat inside.
What now? Was she going to come up with some glorious plan for our pack doctor as well? It’s absurd.
She even told him he has a charming personality…what did she even like in a nerd like him? Are men like that her type? Nerdy, obedient and sheep–looking men?
She doesn’t find my personality charming? As a matter of fact, I have more women pining after me than that silly white coat.

I didn’t know there would be a day when I would hear Zade howling with laughter inside my head over our woman.

I blocked him and walked inside Richard’s clinic, who was stamping some papers.
“Alpha? Did you want to ask something else?”
“How is it going?” I asked referring to the slave girls I had him look after and check for any contagious diseases they might have before I gift them to Owen.
“About that, Alpha. All of them are severely malnourished and anaemic. They need ample care, nutrition and rest urgently
For a second, the visuals from our argument the other day swam in front of my eyes and I clenched my teeth.
A conflict.
What I am going through right now is a conflict because of her.
“Shift them to the sixth floor of the hospital secretly and have someone look after them until they recover from whatever lack they are going through” I breathed and he nodded enthusiastically, accepting my orders.
This is all because of her.
There are a total of 15 girls. I believe I can hold him back for some time until they get better. He wouldn’t like a damaged gift
anyway.
“Anything else, Alpha?” Why is he smiling so creepily?
Did she like his smile? It’s so obscurely revealing and harmless. How can he smile as if even his night is sunny?
“Nothing. Just do what you are told to.” I stood up, ready to leave.
I never found Richard this revolting in my life before. I think I would have smashed one of his glasses if I stayed inside his cabin for a second longer.
I was about to get inside the car when I heard Hudson’s voice in my head.
“Where are you Alpha?”
“I am at the hospital, why?” What could be so urgent that he mindlinked me?
“We found out about the conversation between Great Luna and Elder Christopher‘
Oh, isn’t that a great discovery?
“I am coming to the office in 10 minutes” I say and the connection snaps in my head.

I was anxious the whole time I was riding to my office. I got out of the car and handed the car keys to the guard. I walked to the elevator after heeding the receptionist’s sultry greeting
Time to fire her now.
“What is it?” I ask as soon as the elevator dinged open and I step inside my cabin.
“There is something wrong with Elder Christopher’s wife. Gravely wrong, which can get her exiled‘
A member of the pack is exiled for two reasons when they disobey their Alpha’s order and become a rebel which is ironic considering how I have some of those breathing right under my nose.
And the second is when a wolf is going feral.
Which means, Elder Christopher’s wife is going feral. How very interesting.
“Elder Christopher is famous for loving his wife, isn’t he?” I asked and Hudson nodded.
“What did that old hag offer him?” I ask, already sure of the answer and bingo.
“That she will let him keep his wife in the pack after her son commander Adrian becomes the alpha
Goodness, the power these words hold.
I felt searing heat course through my body and cracks appeared on the table where my fist lay.
“A–Alpha”
“How would he react when I ask after his wife’s health, hmm?” I ask, already about to feel his scent of fear filling my senses.
“He will petrified, Alpha”
“Yes, very much so. We will easily be able to get him on our side now” Hudson beamed and I smirked.
“We will finally have all the elders on our side!”
“Not all, Kyle is her lackey. He will side with us not that I want him to. Except for him, yes. We will have all the seven elders on our side now”
“Congratulations Alpha!” Hudson cheered and I shook my head.
“Not yet, Hudson. Let it happen first” I say and he nods, composing himself.
“Then, shall we visit him?”
“He didn’t come to the office today” Hudson informed me when I stood up and I cast him a glance.
“All the better, we will visit him at his home,” I said with a darkened smile. Hudson grinned, understanding the assignment.
“I will get the car”
I nodded and I stopped him when his body was halfway out the door.
