“Have you arranged a meeting with Christopher? Why isn’t he replying to our messages?” I curled my fingers around the arm of the chair I was sitting in angrily.
Since that bastard returned after signing a peace treaty with that tiny Crystalmoon pack instead of destroying them as he always does, nothing has been going right.
My plans have gone awry and always, always that bastard gets to know about what I am planning. It’s infuriating!
“Great Luna, calm down. We have finally gotten a response from Elder Christopher. He told us that he couldn’t see us because of ‘our mutual secret‘ ”

Ryan, my closest confidant nodded. However, there was still something suspicious about it all.
“How is the search for the rat going on Ryan? Did you see how haughtily that old hag Owen talked to me? He isn’t interested in making his daughter a concubine anymore!
Damian, that bastard must have reached out to him. It’s maddening. Nothing seems to go right!”
I picked up the vase and threw it on the floor, smashing it.
I must make Adrian the Alpha of the BloodClaw pack at any cost. My son deserves to sit there and not that bastard Damian!
“The search is still going on, Great Luna and there has been reports on Alpha Damian and Elder Owen discussing things together. However, no one knows what they talked about since they were heavily guarded by Alpha’s special knights”
“Ryan, I don’t want to hear failure from you. I need answers. Go and find out about what is happening with them and arrange a visit at Christopher’s house as soon as possible.”
I spat and he disappeared after a bow.
They better bring back results next time. I need to catch whoever is betraying is. How dare they snitch on me!
My head was aching because of no major progress and I was about to tell Becky, my maid to bring me a cup of tea when, suddenly the door opened and she came trotting inside.
“Great Luna, Luna was seen coming back to the Alpha’s mansion after visiting him at his office”
“Becky, I only need important updates on the new girl and not her everyday activities” I sighed and held my forehead.
“Yes, Great Luna”
“Now, go bring me a cup of tea” She scurried out of the room after a bow.
Goodness, this new girl is no fool. She is smart and acts just like that bastard! It seems as if he has specially brought her from
somewhere to bother us.
She even escaped from the attack in the woods. That bastard came at the right time and saved her. The wolf, who was able to escape both of them barely survived when he reached us.

I feel like killing her right now but it’s not possible. I was planning to plant my person beside him after pressurizing him to have a Luna for the pack but he brought that wench before I could act on my plans.
She has been moving completely opposite to me and neither is she willing to come on my side. She has been nothing but a thorn ever since she came here!
I am furious!
‘Great Luma, I have arranged the meeting at Elder Christopher’s house!
‘Good work, Ryan‘
I disconnected with Ryan, stood up and draped a shawl around my shoulders, getting ready to leave.
“Great Luna, here’s your tea”
“Later, Becky. Tell Violet to start the car. I have an important appointment to attend”
“Great Luna, Commander Adrian was supposed to meet you in one hour, what should I tell him?” She said hurriedly and I stopped.
Was Adrian coming to see me today?
Why didn’t you tell me about that sooner?” I gritted out and she flinched.
Lam sorry, great Luna. I just got to know about it while preparing the tea for you”
“Tell him to come see me in the evening. I need to leave right now. Tell him it is urgent” I walked past her, dismissing the guards waiting by the door with a wave of my hand while I quickly moved past the living room and then into the car.
“Violet, take me to Elder Christopher’s house”
“Yes, mam”
The engine hummed to life and the car started. I mind–linked with Ryan again and told him to reach the house directly. I won’t be able to pick him up.
Soon the car comes to a halt outside a small Timber house. It’s bigger than the normal houses but smaller than the mansions. I notice Ryan waiting for me on the porch.
I stepped out of the car and signalled him to ring the bell. We waited a second or so before a timid Christopher opened the door.
“It’s a pleasure to have you at my house, Great Luna. Please come inside” He greeted us with a hint of discomfort on his face and ushered us inside.
“Yes, Elder Christopher. It’s always a pleasure to see you. However, you look unwell, are you alright?” I asked, taking a seat on the sofa he guided me to while Ryan stood by my side.
“No, no, Great Luna. I am absolutely fine by your grace. It’s just my wife…she has been unwell and her health seems to have deteriorated a lot since these past few days.
I have been worried about that”
“Oh my! You don’t have to! The phase she is going through is unavoidable” I lowered my voice when I addressed our mutual secret, also his wife’s condition and he flinched.

“But there is nothing for you to worry about since you can continue to look after her without any worries. She will be by your side as long as you want as per my promise”
“Yes, thanks to your grace, I have been quite relieved that my dear wife won’t have to go through what anyone else would have normally gone through. I will always be grateful to you, great Luna” He almost teared up and I jerked forward, in an attempt to console him and patted his shoulder.
I left the rest to Ryan who was rubbing his back now.
“However, Elder Christopher, I hope your wife is the only reason you are worried” He stopped weeping once I said that.
“W–What do you mean, Great Luna?” He asked anxiously and I smiled.
“I hope our mutual secret is still a secret, Elder Christopher” I gauged his face for any sign of betrayal and unnatural fear but there was none.
“Yes, absolutely, great Luna. I value my
life”
“Very well, Elder Christopher. I will see you again” I stood up and turned around on my heels, ready to leave but then I caught something foreign in the air.
A different scent, one which is different from mine, Ryan’s and Christopher’s. I halt and spin on my heels, facing Christopher again who also stopped where he was, with one of his feet levitating in the air for a split second before he put it down.
“Great Luna, is there anything else, I can help with?” The old man offered hesitantly and that strange scent vanished in the air as if it didn’t exist in the first place.
“No, Elder Christopher. Take care, I will be leaving now” I finally said and walked out of his house.
“Ryan, keep an eye on this old hag. I sensed something suspicious”
“As you say, Great Luna” He nodded and got ready to leave.
He had another work to do and I was to go back alone with Violet. I opened the door and bent down to get inside the comfortable leather and metal.
“Drive back to the house” I told her and the car immediately took off to the mansion.
It didn’t even take an exact one hour for me to discuss things with Christopher. I will easily be able to see Adrian in the evening. I wonder whether he has something important to discuss or not.
I get out of the car and the guards at the door take my overcoat and purse as I make my way into my room through the living room.
It hadn’t been even a minute since I sat down and held my throbbing head, ready to yell at Becky to get my tea when a maid with red pigtails brought a parcel for me.
“Great Luna, this parcel was addressed to you and the sender is from Crystal Moon pack.”
My ears perked up when I heard the name of the place, I have been unable to endure lately because of that insufferable Liliana Robinson. However, getting a parcel from there meant an entirely different thing.
I finally smiled for once during this whole ominous day. I quickly unwrapped the parcel and found a gift inside along with a letter.
