“You are such a beautiful girl” The woman dressed lavishly from head to toe and laden with jewels said with a big smile plastered on her face…which appeared as if it was fake.
She was an older woman who had maintained herself well. There were hardly any wrinkles on her face and she screamed an intellect which was far more different and craftier than others.
Her raven hair was wrapped in a bun draped with pearls and hermethyst eyes sparkled under the chandelier. A man standing beside her who looked the same as her.

His formal suit complimented the dress of the lady who had been giving me nasty looks since earlier, standing alongside him. She seemed to be his partner, she was dressed as lavishly as the mother and son duo
“Thank you…” I asked unsure of how to address her when she parted her mouth slightly before smiling again, “How silly of me, I am Valentina Edwards, the Great Luna of BloodClaw Pack and Damian’s mother‘ She introduced herself and 1 immediately sobered up.
I was about to greet her when suddenly the sound of teeth gnashing resounded around us.
“You look in great spirits, stepmother, despite your age. You seem to be holding yourself quite well” Damian gritted his teeth. as he spat the last few words injecting them with a polished fury, glaring at her.
“Why won’t I be in great spirits, my son? It’s the night to celebrate, after all, you finally have a Luna by your side” The great Luna smiled warmly despite Damian’s snide remark before her words finally dipped in malice at the end.
There seemed to be some tension between them. Damian got angry all of a sudden when she arrived along with the man and woman beside her. He was in a good mood before they came to greet us.
He snorted at the great Luna before his words became more brutal.
“You will have to rejoice this much, after all, it’s a ball you decided to have. Otherwise, I am sure, seeing me here tonight must have dampened your spirits quite a lot.”
There was a crack in great Luna’s face when he said that.
“I don’t know whether you are talking about me or yourself, Damian. I know I am not your real mother. However, I will wait for the day you will accept me because no matter what you say, you are still my son.” The great Luna smiled warmly at him with her eyes full of yearning.
For a moment I believed that Damian was the one in wrong. However, I am just an outsider…I don’t know anything about them and Great Luna doesn’t look like a simple woman as well.
“You see me as your son?” Damian’s voice was cold with a hint of mockery before he started laughing. “Ah, great Luna, you jest because a real mother would never wish to kill her son.” He shrouded everyone in complete silence and suddenly I remembered the sudden ambush in the car, we faced while coming here.
Both of them kept glaring at each other and there was no longer a smile on Great Luna’s face. Damian was also looking at her with a cold sardonic smile.
Was it her doing? Did she really do such a thing? But I can’t put such a big accusation on her because Damian didn’t tell me anything.

The subtle tension from before has now taken a gigantic form. is hanging in the air in a visible living form.

“It feels like a dream to have met such a beautiful lady like you, Lama. 1 am Adrian Edwards, Damian’s brother and BloodClaw Pack’s commander” The boy who had been standing here with a smile this whole time said as he came forward and took my hand.
I didn’t know whether he was brave or straight–up reckless. Both Damian and Great Luna had been throwing fire and iceballs at each other with just their eyes and he is here introducing himself.
No wonder he is the commander. I would have never been able say anything in a situation like this.
I smiled back and he didn’t leave my hand right away when I tried pulling it back after a greeting. His touch gave me creeps. and the way he gazed at me made me feel like worms were crawling on my skin.

with him? I wondered when I saw him giving me firtatious looks.
‘I don’t like him, Lily, he is a rascall My wolf Sylvia growled in my head and 1 agreed.
1 agree, Sylvia. He is a creep‘
My intuition is telling me that none of them is right. Our mate also agitated because of them. They are the bad guys!”
And as if to prove Sylvia right, instantly, The woman beside Adrian the creep, started speaking next.
“I anr Lucia Edwards, Adrian’s wife. You are new here and don’t know our ways, Liliana, so I will be happy to help you since there is no one you know here right? You must be feeling so lonely I didn’t like the way Lucia was driving me into a comer.
It was as if instead of offering me help, she was trying to intimidate me. Does every place try to threaten the newcomer?
“You are wrong, Lucia. Liliana has me and slowly she will also get friendlier with the pack.” Damian slammed the lady who was staring at me haughtily and the feathers on her dress shook when she trembled.
“It’s a good thing, she does, but Lucia was just being considerate, Damian. Don’t be too hard on her. Aren’t I right, dear Liliana?” The great Luna said, looking at me.
She has now turned the gears towards me and there was an unsaid pressure in her voice which told me to go along with whatever she said.
I understand Lucia’s concern, great Luna. However, Damian is right, I don’t feel alone because I have him. I said sweetly, sliding my arm into his and the great Luna smiled happily while peering at both of us.
“Oh my, you both are such a lovely couple. May goddess Selene protect you from the evil eye. The great Luna said, cycing us both and soon a soft melody started playing in the background.
“Ah, is it already time to dance? Then, Alpha and Lu–”
I will be taking my leave now, Great Luna. Proceed with the festivities without us because as you know, tonight is our first night and I can’t delay it any longer” He interrupted Great Luna from speaking in between as he stood up abruptly and my cheeks flushed when he mentioned our first night.
“I shouldn’t hold you any longer, son. Enjoy your newlywed life
“You too, great tuna since I will be leaving the ball” Damian turned around leaving the unsaid words hanging in the air, holding my hand with that last goodbye and walking into a silent corridor after taking long strides across the hall.
