Sophie’s tears stopped abruptly, her hands dropping weakly to her sides as she stared at Jaziel and Nolan in confusion.
She couldn’t understand–why had their attitudes toward her changed so quickly?
In the past, the moment she cried, they would rush to comfort her, more anxious than anyone else.
But now, all she received was indifference.
It felt as if, even if she cried her heart out, they wouldn’t so much as blink.
Sophie dared not admit to her provocations and deliberate schemes against Charlotte.
She clenched her mouth shut, nearly despairing as she pleaded with Nolan:
“Nolan, I didn’t do anything. Please believe me, okay? Charlotte has helped me so much–I could never be anything but grateful to her. Why would I treat her badly?”
“If she’s the one you care about… then… then I can move out…”
As she spoke, Sophie forced a few more tears from her eyes.
“Maybe Charlotte wasn’t happy because I moved in. She suddenly started disliking me before–maybe it’s the same this time…”
Sophie continued to paint herself as the victim, hoping to sway them.
She had always relied on Nolan’s soft–heartedness, praying he would let this slide as he had
in the past.
As long as they didn’t hold her accountable for now, living under the same roof gave her countless opportunities to make them see only her.
After all, wasn’t Charlotte simply someone who had arrived in their lives 20 years earlier
than she did?

If she had Charlotte’s background, she would never have made the mistakes Charlotte had.
But this time, Nolan was no longer the indulgent man she knew.
He scoffed coldly, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
“You just won’t repent until you’re at the brink, will you?”
“Anyone who knows me knows my temper isn’t as good as you think.”
Without warning, he slammed Sophie’s head onto the table, his hands tightening around
her neck.
Jaziel’s voice, low and chilling, seeped into Sophie’s ears like a nightmare.
“Sophie, your job is already gone. I’ve informed your family, and they’ll be coming here in a few days. You’d better start thinking about how to deal with them.”
With just a few taps on his phone, Jaziel had effectively decided her fate.
“No! Don’t let them come! I’ll talk–I’ll tell you everything!”
The suffocating pain was nothing compared to the terror Jaziel’s threat brought.
Panic–stricken, Sophie was on the verge of losing her mind.
Hearing her response, Nolan finally loosened his grip.
“Talk,” he commanded.
Sophie coughed violently, gasping for air.
“I… I can show you my phone!”
She quickly unlocked her phone and handed it over.
“I didn’t do anything–it’s all a misunderstanding.”
Sophie silently celebrated her foresight in deleting all her messages taunting Charlotte,

Jaziel didn’t even take the phone. With just a glance, he could tell she was still hiding something, still putting on an act.
Nolan, however, grabbed the phone and immediately arranged for its data to be recovered
Hearing Nolan make the call, Sophie felt her world collapse.
She clung desperately to his arm, pleading frantically:
“Please… please don’t recover the data…”
But this time, Jaziel and Nolan weren’t giving her any more chances.
They had already given her enough–too many, in fact.
It was Sophie herself who had squandered them.
Jaziel wasted no time instructing someone to investigate everything Sophie had done in the past few months related to Charlotte.
