Chapter 41
Rachel was pulled along by Linda, her head turning back frequently to glance at Ivan. Her gaze flitted between the two, filled with innocent confusion.
“You two… huh? Are you having a fight?”
Bending slightly, Rachel tilted her head to look up at Linda’s face.
To her surprise, Linda suddenly pulled her into a tight hug.
She didn’t say anything–just held Rachel tightly, as if clinging to something irreplaceable.
Sensing Linda’s unusual mood, Rachel returned the hug, gently patting her on the shoulder.
“It’s okay. If you’re fighting or not into him anymore, we can just move on and find
someone else. It’s not a big deal.”
Rachel’s voice carried the crisp clarity of youth. At this point in her life, she was
carefree–no arranged marriage, no failed relationship weighing her down.
They were both in their prime, and there was still time for everything.
Linda sniffled, then lifted her face into a radiant smile, her gaze burning with
determination as she looked at Rachel.
“Rachel, let’s clear a game together!”
“Sure!” Rachel agreed enthusiastically, as she had always been Linda’s first player.
What she didn’t know was that the game Linda referred to wasn’t just any game—it was life,
a life pre–written by the plot.
And Linda, holding her record of failures, was inviting Rachel to join her in clearing it.
Clearing the way to freedom, to success, to a life unshackled by anyone’s control.
