Chapter 6
She turned and walked back to her room, each step heavier than the last.
Behind her, Matthew’s warning was like ice piercing her skin: “Daphne, if you dare harm Charlotte again, don’t blame me for being harsh. There’s no need for you to stay in this
house any longer!”
This house? Who was really the mistress of this house?
Daphne screamed silently in her mind, her eyes filling with tears, but she stubbornly
refused to let them fall.
It was only after she shut the door that she finally let herself lean against it, tears soaking
her clothes.
The scenes from moments ago replayed in her mind like a slideshow.
Even though she knew she would forget everything in a few days, Matthew’s attitude made her want to end things with him once and for all.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she suddenly thought of something.
She opened the drawer and began rummaging through her things, gathering everything related to Matthew that connected him to her.
There were souvenirs from their trips, countless photos, and the expensive jewelry Matthew had given her.
Every item she pulled out felt like reopening an old wound, making her relive the pain once
more.
Finally, Daphne gathered everything in one place, pulled out a lighter, and set it all ablaze.
