Chapter 22
Fifty Years Later
Time raced forward, the world evolving in ways Damien could never have imagined.
Fueled by Sterling Corporation’s generous funding, cryonics research advanced rapidly,
Within ten years, scientists perfected the thawing process,
Still, Celeste remained frozen–her pancreatic cancer had yet to be curable.
But now, fifty years later, that had changed.
Medical breakthroughs finally offered a cure.
Today was the day.
he head researcher who had once overseen Damien and Celeste’s freezing was now
hty–nine, long retired.
Yet he insisted on attending the historic event, determined to witness their reunion.
As the countdown began, the room buzzed with quiet excitement.
“Isn’t this the couple everyone talks about?” one technician whispered.
“Yeah, the billionaire and his terminally ill fiancée. He froze himself just to stay with her.”
“Can you imagine? All that money, and he gave it all up for love.”
The countdown reached zero.
A burst of vapor filled the air as the chambers opened.
For a moment, all was still.
Then, slowly, Damien and Celeste stirred, their eyes fluttering open.

Celeste blinked, disoriented.
“What… happened? I thought I was…”
“Frozen?” a kind voice asked.
A technician stepped forward, offering her water and a blanket.
“You’ve just been thawed. Don’t worry–it’s normal to feel a little dizzy.”
But Celeste barely heard her.
A voice she knew as well as her own had just spoken.
“Celeste.”
Her heart stopped.
She turned, and there he was–Damien, standing just a few feet away, his gaze locked on
hers.
Damien?” she whispered.
He stepped forward, pulling her into his arms.
“It’s me,” he said softly.
“I’m here, Celeste. I’ve always been here.”
Later, as they sat together, Celeste looked up at him.
“Damien… why? Why did you do this? You had your whole life ahead of you. Why throw it
all away?”
Damien cupped her face in his hands.
“Because you’re my life, Celeste. I couldn’t let you face the future alone. Wherever you are, that’s where I’m meant to be.”
She leaned into him, her voice barely above a whisper.

“I’m glad. I don’t think I could’ve done this without you.”
Just then, the door opened, and the elderly researcher entered, accompanied by a younger man carrying a worn notebook.
“Damien Sterling,” the old man said, smiling warmly. “It’s been a long time.”
Damien’s eyes widened in recognition.
心
N’s you–the young man from the park.”
The former researcher laughed.
“Yes, it’s me. And thanks to your words that day, I found the courage to follow my heart. My wife and I owe you everything.”
As they spoke, Celeste and Damien exchanged a glance, their hands entwining.
In that moment, beneath the stars of a new world, they both knew–love truly could Conquer time.
