Chapter 10 Starting the Job
Upon arriving at Ava’s place
place, Ava refused his request, protesting with soft sobs. Alex’s anger grew, and he pulled out a cigarette, saying coldly. “If you don’t get an abortion, I have many ways to make sure you can’t have the baby.”
Ava’s crying stopped instantly, her eyes filled with grievance. “Mr. Smith I truly care about you,”
Thinking of her scheming, Alex felt disgusted. “How much is your true are worth?” He threw out a bank card, looking at her indifferently “There’s $400,000 in here. Use it to get an abortion, or I’ll have my bodyguards take you. Your choice.”
Ava hesitated for a long time before finally taking the bank card with trembling

After leaving Ava’s place, Alex called his bodyguards to keep an eye on her. He drove back to the home, feeling agitated.
In the middle of the night, Sharon vaguely heard the sound of a car engine but didn’t pay much attention. During breakfast, Nanny told her that Alex had left in a hurry last night, seemingly because something happened at the company.
Sharon said nothing, silently drinking her milk, a hint of mockery flashing in her mind. She thought, What could possibly happen at the company? He’s probably rushing to see Ava,”
In the following days, Sharon began packing her things. While Alex was away on a business trip, she didn’t call him even once, nor did she inquire about him.
In the past, every time he went on a business trip, Sharon would sit in the living room and call him for over an hour every night.
On Saturday, Sophie came to help her move. Seeing her dragging a suitcase, Nanny looked puzzled. “Mrs. Smith, are you going on a trip?”
Sharon shook her head and smiled. “I’m planning to move out. I appreciate all you’ve done for me over the years.”
Nanny’s face changed slightly. She had noticed the tension between Sharon and Alex before. They used to always stay at home together, but now they barely interacted.

asked, “Mrs. Smith, did you and Mr. Smith have a fight?”
Sharon’s grip on the suitcase tightened. After a few seconds of thought, she replied softly. “No, I found a job and plan to live closer to it.”
After speaking, Sharon nodded slightly to Nanny and turned to leave without looking back.

“I got it,” he responded coldly, then hung up and quickly dialed another number.
Sharon knew that as soon as she left the mansion, Alex would get the news. A wry smile appeared on her lips as she swiped her phone
screen.
When the call connected, Alex’s voice carried a hint of anger. “Sharon, don’t agree with you moving out. Come back immediately!”
His forceful tone made Sharon frown slightly. “Regardless of your opinion, I’m moving out.”
Her indifferent attitude further enraged Alex. “And don’t you dare forge about your father’s medical bills…”

Before he could finish, Sharon interrupted coldly, “Alex, if I remember correctly, Uncle Adam’s son Randy is coming back soon. You wouldn’t want the Smith family to know about your affair, would you?”
In the Smith family, due to Adam Smith’s limited capabilities, Tyler had invested more effort in Randy Smith. With a large family, not all power could be entrusted to Alex for handling.

Sophie saw the brief vulnerability in her eyes and sighed inwardly, Sharon has truly loved Alex, and it will likely take a long time for her to recover from the betrayal and disappointment.”
On Sunday, Sharon continued organizing her luggage in the rental apartment. Soon, Monday arrived.
At 8 a.m., Sharon arrived on time at Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals.
After completing her onboarding procedures, the HR specialist took Sharon on a tour of the company, introducing the locations of various departments. She was then brought to the office of the R&D department manager.
The R&D manager, Susan Lewis, was around forty years old, with short, neat hair and a seemingly serious demeanor, rarely showing a smile.
“Please, have a seat. After Sharon sat down, Susan said calmly, “I’ve reviewed your resume. Although you achieved a lot during your school years, you haven’t worked in a lab for the past few years. You’ll start as an assistant.”
“Alright.” Sharon agreed.
Seeing Sharon’s calm expression and lack of dissatisfaction, Suson was secretly pleased. She preferred diligent and hardworking subordinates, and Sharon seemed to fit that description at first glance
Susan stood up and said to Sharon, “I’ll show you around and introduce you to your colleagues.”
They walked into the R&D department, and Susan raised her voice. “Everyone, we have a new colleague today, Sharon, introduce yourself”
Sharon stepped forward and smiled. “Hello, everyone. I’m Sharon Wright, and I’ve just joined the R&D department. I know there are a lot I don’t know yet, so I’d appreciate your guidance.”
Just as she finished speaking, a sudden exclamation came from the front left, “Irene! You added the wrong reagent!”

Irene’s father, Ted Robinson, had once served as the procurement manager at Robert Pharmaceuticals, a company founded by the Wright family. Due to the close relationship between the Wright and Robinson families, Sharon had grown up with Irene. However, after the Wright family went bankrupt, the Robinson family quickly distanced themselves, and Irene even blocked her on social media.

Later, Sharon learned from Sophie that at a high school reunion, Irene had claimed she never considered Sharon a friend and that her kindness towards Sharon was merely due to her father’s job. It was then that Sharon realized that not everyone who smiled at her genuinely liked her; some valued her only for her utility.
