From Divorce to a Billionaire’s Bride
Chapter 19 The Slap
In recent years, Susan had always thought Irene was diligent and meticulous in her work. But after seeing the documents reporting her data falsification, Susan completely lost faith in her and naturally couldn’t protect her anymore.
Irene looked up in disbelief. “Susan, you could have helped me cover this up. Why report it to headquarters? Does all my previous hard work mean nothing because of one mistake?”
Irene thought, ‘I have stayed up late for experimental data, even lived in the lab. Why does Susan only focus on this one mistake and not consider my past efforts?”
Seeing Irene’s lack of remorse, Susan said coldly, “Your previous efforts are reflected in your salary, especially in the field of life–saving drug development. I can accept failure, but I will never tolerate fraud
TE
It seemed Susan wouldn’t let Irene off easily.
Irene took a deep breath and said slowly, “I understand. Whatever the company decides, I will accept.” With that, she turned and left the
office.
Outside Susan’s office, Irene quickly made a call to Ted. After listening, Ted said in a low voice, ‘Got it. I’ll handle it.”
Irene waited anxiously. She couldn’t afford to leave Medica Care International Pharmaceuticals because of the data falsification scandal. If she did, it would tarnish her reputation, making it tough for any company to consider hiring her in the future.
Fortunately, Ted acted quickly and Irene soon received his call. Ted told her not to worry, and that everything had been taken care of.
Irene’s incident hadn’t caused significant losses. So the company initially intended to give her a minor punishment, docking a month s salary and issuing a verbal waming. Irene finally felt relieved.
However, knowing it was Sharon in who reported her, Irene grow increasingly furious and could no longer hold back. She quickly walked to the R&D department.
At that moment, Sharon was looking up some information when she suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind her.
Just as she turned around, a slap landed on her face, leaving
ing her no time to dodge.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed, and everyone around fell silent, turning to stare at Irene and Sharon.
Irene had put almost all her strength into that slap. Sharon’s head was knocked to the side, and a five–finger mark quickly appeared on her face, her face swelling up instantly.
Sharon lifted her head and stared coldly at Irene.
Under Sharon’s clear gaze, a trace of fear surged in Irene’s heart, and she instinctively stepped back.
But thinking about Sharon’s report, trene felt justified and looked at Sharon with arrogant eyes. “This slap is just a lesson for you scheming behind my back. If you dare to do it again…”
Before she could finish, Sharon suddenly grabbed her hair and slapped her hard.
Irene was stunned that the usually gentle Sharon would fight back. By the time she reacted, her face was flushed with anger.
Irene shouted, “How dare you!”
She raised her hand to retaliate hut was stopped by Sharon, who grabbed her wrist.

Irene glared at Sharon, her eye almost spitting fire.
Sharon leaned in, her voice low and firm. “Are you sure you want everyone to know about your data falsification? Your team isn’t the only group of researchers in the R&D department and those resources and abjects aren’t just handled by your team. Think about it, if others find out, won’t they blow things up?”
Irene’s expression shifted as HQ hadn’t made a decision yet. Making a scene would only complicate things further. With determination, she gritted her teeth and said, “Just you wait!”
She shook off Sharon’s hand and hurriedly left. Thinking about her father’s connections with the company’s executives, she hoped that might help her resolve this trouble.
After Irene’s figure disappeared at the door, a female colleague who was close to Sharon walked over and said, “Sharon, your face is swollen. There’s ice in the fridge. I’ll get some for you.”
Sharon nodded. “Thanks. I’ll get it myself. Don’t let it interrupt your work.”
She quickly walked to the break room, wrapped some ice in a towel, and applied it to her face, wincing slightly.
She was worried about the swelling on her face and hoped it would go down quickly. After all, what woman didn’t care about her appearance? She even regretted not hitting harder earlier.
After applying ice for about ten minutes, the pain on her face slightly subsided, and she returned to her workstation.
As soon as she sat down, her colleague Betty Anderson slid her chair over and asked in a low voice, “Sharon, everyone is talking about what happened between you and Trene. Why did she suddenly hit you?
Sharon didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. After all, if Irene lost her job because of this, other colleagues would think she was scheming, which would affect her life at the company.
As for Irene, although she did falsify data this time, she had also contributed to the company in the past and was quite capable. The company would handle it privately and not spread the news.
Sharon shook her head. “It’s nothing, Just

e personal grudges.”
Noticing Sharon’s reluctance to elaborate, Betty tactfully backed off. “Well, Irene may appear sweet and friendly, but she’s quite cunning. With this situation escalating, she’ll likely try to come after you. Stay alert.”
“Got it.” Sharon replied.
Sharon knew that Irene would definitely target her next. But she wasn’t afraid. She believed that as long as she stayed in the right, there was no reason to be concerned about Irene’s plots.
By the railing on the second floor of the R&D department, Paul, who had observed the whole process, couldn’t help but speak up, “I didn’t expect Ms. Wright, who usually seems gentle and considerate, to be so fierce when she fights.”
Seb remained expressionless, but a hint of interest flashed in his eyes.
He thought, It seems Sharon is not as I have imagined. She isn’t a gentle and harmless little rabbit. However, Sharon’s tendency to seek Immediate revenge might not be advantageous in the workplace, but that’s none of my business.”
Seb said, “Let’s go.”
They had originally come to check on the progress of the experiments but ended up watching a drama instead.
Paul immediately followed and asked, “Mr. Smith, should we find out the details of what happened?”
