Chapter 23 This Is a Misunderstanding
Sure enough, Sophie’s face instantly changed, and her body trembled slightly. She bit her lip and calmly responded, “Alright, I’d like to see how you plan to punish me.”
At this moment, Sharon held Sophie’s cold hand and whispered, “Sophie, maybe there’s a misunderstanding here. Don’t be too upset.”
Sophie nodded in response. “Yeah, I know,” Until Daniel admitted it himself, she would never believe Emily’s words.
Not long after, Daniel’s secretary, Matt Johnson, hurried over.
He walked towards Emily, completely ignoring Sophie and Sharon sitting nearby.
“Ms. Young, Mr. Thomas is in a meeting and sent me to handle the matter,” Matt said.
Emily lifted her chin and pointed in the direction of Sophie and Sharon “It’s them. They want to compete with me for this suit.”
Matt turned to say something, but when he saw it was Sophie and Sharon, his expression instantly became serious.
“Ms. Lee,” Matt called out and thought to himself, ‘What the hell!. Sophie is Daniel’s girlfriend, while Emily is his childhood friend. Who would have thought that on Emily’s first day back in the country, she would run into Sophie, and it would turn into such a mess?‘
Sensing the tension in the air, Emily immediately frowned. “You know her?”
Matt had no intention of answering, but Sophie slightly raised the corners of her mouth, her gaze sharp as a knife. “I just heard Ms. Young say that her boyfriend is Daniel?”
“Ms. Lee, there must be some misunderstanding here. How about…” Matt tried to explain but was interrupted by Emily.
Emily retorted, “Mr. Johnson, what misunderstanding could there be between us? It’s only a matter of time before Daniel and I are together. Calling him my boyfriend isn’t inaccurate.”
Emily’s face was full of confidence, as if this relationship was already destined. She and Daniel had grown up together, and the elders of both the Thomas family and the Young family had always intended to match them up.
Matt could only bitterly hope that Emily would stop talking, or else Daniel would be in an awkward position later.
“Ms. Lee, Ms. Young and Mr. Thomas are childhood friends and have always been very close,” Matt said calmly but with some helplessness.
Before Sophie could speak, Emily interjected, “Why are you explaining to her? What does my relationship with Daniel have to do with
her?”
Suddenly, Emily’s expression turned cold, staring at Sophie as if mocking her.
Emily said, “Oh I see, you look pretty good. Tell me, how much does Daniel give you a month? I’m willing to give you ten times that amount, as long as you stay away from me and Daniel.”
Emily’s words were full of contempt, clearly treating Sophie as an insignificant role.
Faced with such ridicule, Sophie didn’t get angry and didn’t want to argue with Enly. She smiled and said lightly, “Seems like there’s
some jealousy brewing. You might be disappointed to know that I am Daniel’s official girlfriend now.”
Emily’s face changed instantly, full of disbelief.
“You say it’s only a matter of time before you and Daniel are together. Looks like you want to be a mistress,” Sophie mocked.

“Shut up? Emily glared at Sophie, gritting her teeth. “Daniel is just toying with your feelings. He and I have over twenty years of bistory You should know which one of us is more important?
“But you’re still not together with Daniel after twenty years. What’s thate to be proud of? Sophie retorted.
“That’s because I went abroad, giving you the chance. Now that I’m back, believe it or not, I can make him break up with you within month,” Emily said, growing more confident.
“I’m not that attached. You can have him,” Sophie said, hey expression neutral with a slight smirk on her lips.
Emily was stunned for a moment as Sophie turned and walked away.
Matt’s face changed instantly, and he hurried to catch up. “Ms. Lee, this is just a misunderstanding At least give Mr. Thomas a chance to explain
Sophie stopped and looked at him coldly, her tone indifferent. “Three months ago, he went to Stellaria. I couldn’t reach him for three days. Later, he explained he was busy with work. Was he really just busy?”
Seeing the panic on Matt’s face, Sophie smiled mockingly and continued, “Now, do you still dare to say it’s a misunderstanding
Sophie had once trusted Daniel and given him chances, only to realize he wasn’t as important to her as the thought.
Walking out of the mall, Sophie sent Daniel a message: [Let’s break up

She didn’t intend to console Sophie too much. After all, matters of love were best understood by those involved.
Based on today’s events, it was clear that Daniel had ignored the etiquette of interacting with other women, allowing Emily to act recklessly.
Sophie wasn’t impulsive; she just needed a friend to silently support her.
Wiping away her tears, Sophie tried to appear relaxed. “It’s time for a fresh start. There are plenty of men pursuing me, and younger ones too, who have simple relationships, without complicated childhood friends.”
“But we are really unlucky, both running into unreliable men. We should find some time to go to church and pray to God, Sophie joked.
Sharon looked at her with concern. “Stay at my place tonight?” It was better for them to be together than for Sophie to be alone and upset.
Sophie shook her head. “No, I want to find a hotel and be alone for a white, to think about what to do next?
“Are you sure you don’t need my company?” Sharon still felt uneasy.
“Yes, I’m fine. You know my personality. If I really needed you, I wouldn’t hesitate to ask, Sophie said with a slight smile, firmly.
“Alright then.” Sharon didn’t insist further. After dropping Sophie off at the hotel, she went home.
Sharon hadn’t even reached her apartment when she got a call from Clara, asking to meet her.
